Saw the Fiji performance v a strong French team, saw our last
dozen games....safely predicting a Fiji victory.

       I think he'd prefer:
       9 Young's
       10 Farrell
       11 Watson
       12 Tuilagi
       13 Porter
       14 Hassel-Collins
       15 Steward
But he's probably thinking he needs to pick someone who isn't
Farrell, and doesn't have a Leicester connection.

Who would everyone pick for this fixture if a specific squad
wasn't an issue? Taking into account its a friendly so maybe not
       risking everyone, I would go..
       1. Marler
       2. Dan
       3. Sinkler
       4. Itoje
       5. Chessum
       6. Lawes (c)
       7. Willis
       8. Mercer
       9. Mitchell
       10. Smith
       11. Murley
       12. Lawrence
       13. Marchant
       14. Freeman
       15. Malins
I think Freeman didn't really let anyone down previously for
England, and on the international scene looked more assured than
Arundell. Malins is worth a go at FB to see if he offers a
different dynamic to an attack, as lets face it Steward stunts
       the backline.

Well if you're playing Smith then you should play Care & Dommers
along with Cadan and Joe to give the England Team at least half
a chance of scoring a try.

I'd go pretty similar to be honest. It's a team that "should"
be able to hold it's own up front and be able to play in a style
that doesn't peel layers off your retinas. Totally not
convinced by any of our options at hooker or tighthead though.
Would love Collier to stay injury free for a long time and get a
go in the scrum - hopefully some of the U20 class come through
       in those positions.

It will be good to see Dan get a go to see if he can actually
play as he did for Sarries at the end of the season. George
isn't getting any younger, Walker im not convinced has the all
round game for the top job, same for Blamire. Thacker I think
should be ahead of Walker personally.
I'm disappointed with Stuart, he had a good Aussie tour but then
for his run of games recently has been pretty sluggish/poor.
Starting grandad Cole is a fair reflection of where we are at
currently with depth in tight heads. Collier may have been in
with a shout, but sadly he had very limited game time last
season so that would go against him.

A part of Robert Kitson's piece today in the Grauniad on Steve
Bore-kick's woes stuck out for me:
'One well-sourced rumour doing the rounds is that when Smith,
training at No 15, made a slashing break out of his own 22 his
head coach blew the whistle and made clear that big matches
wouldn’t be won playing like that.'
Yes, how dare he do something as heinous as run with the ball
rather than boot the leather off it.
