Oh well, was all irrelevant in the end. Would love the see the
Quins boys (incl. March) come on and change the game On
Saturday. Driven by low prices, I've decided to go and take my
two daughters. I know, I know, such a fool but if the Quins boys
can tear it up for however long they get, it might still be fun.

BBC just confirmed Watson is ruled out of the RWC with a calf
injury.

Just running fast and scoring tries, so no.

I really don't see the point of playing Marcus at 15. (and I
know he isn't starting there). But we've already established
this team is only prepared to play one way. Having a genuine
playmaker suddenly grab the ball and try to make something
happen - that's just going to confuse everyone who is standing
around waiting for the kick. We've already established the
England team can't play the type of game they've practised for
for weeks. How are they suddenly going to convert themselves
into a team playing running rugby when they can't even play
Fazball very well?

Steward's a more effective attacker than people give him credit
for, but his worse defending out wide than I originally thought.
Marcus playing 15 is just daft. He's better off defending in the
line but wider out; he's fairly tenacious, but he's not great in
space as you'd expect. He's not particularly good under the high
ball and it's notable how many Twitter types are banging on
about how Beaudan Barrett, one of the biggest flyhalves in the
world at the time, made a go of it. Yeah, bit of a different
story there.
Cokanasiga being mooted as a replacement for Daly genuinely made
me laugh.

Everything about this is stupid.
No point filling the backline with creative players but then
asking your 9 and 10 to luck everything away aimlessly
No point if your chosen 9 is slow and can't pass
No point if your back gets very slow ruck ball
No point if the whole team is coached to play a negative plan
Steward catches well and is strong in the air and in contact. He
is not very fast, not a great attacking threat and weak
defensively, especially in terms of positioning. Marcus is
probably much weaker in the air and naturally weaker in contact.
He would offer far more in attack, but he works best attacking
the line rather than running back at defenders, although the try
vs Montpellier shows how well he can do the latter. Defensively,
I reckon he'd get closer to attackers as the last man than
steward would, but then would probably be too small to stop
someone at full tilt close to the line.
Keep steward at 15, have two fast wings, give them the ball and
allow them to run with it. They're not just there to chase
kicks.
Drop youngs
Tell ford / smith to play as they see it, not kick by default
