The Aussies probably would rather face Farrell-centric England
team in the knockout stages than a Ford/Smith England team
captained by Lawes.

The mitigation is the "late change in direction". But the tackle
was attempted even later, was never legal, was incredibly
dangerous, and caused a brain injury.
It's a disgraceful decision no matter how you look at it or what
your personal feelings are on Owen Farrell.

Hope we lose to Ireland (given) and Fiji as well as all the
world cup games now with him playing, should hopefully see the
end of OF/SB being connected to England.

They genuinely seem to think that the push/direction change is
why the tackle was illegal. Just baffling.

Congratulations World Rugby. You’ve managed to further undermine
confidence in referees, your own bunker ref process and let off
a repeat offender that has ample previous for illegal high
tackles. As mentioned by Jammy, he was never legal! Just when
you think the leadership or rugby couldn’t get much more
amateur.
