Good article, and when he lays out the affect the constant call
ups to the Scotland Squad only to be sent back to us had on his
family life & training schedule with us, you can understand his
decision. Here's hoping that he and Charlie have the same Nandos
challenge they did last season & they both push their try totals
up through the season!

I stand by my use of affect in that the term, while generally
used as a verb can be used in the phrase "have an affect" to
denote having a negative impact upon something. Effect can also
be used, but is a more neutral term, where it can denote either
positive or negative impacts.

Saw the article on facébook the other day. It is certainly
understandable that all the travelling and mucking about would
be draining. Scotland's loss and ourr gain the way I see it. I
hope he continues the good run of form he had last season. It's
still a mystery why he wasn't picked at the beginning of last
season frankly!

No, it can't. Affect as a verb indicates impact - "I was
affected by a bad cold" - but affect is only correctly used as a
noun as a technical psychology term meaning expression of
emotion - "the subject displayed heightened affect while
watching the disturbing video". The OED doesn't even list it as
a noun:

It does get widely used as a noun in general conversation, but
invariably incorrectly.

Oh, ok - back to the topic.
I think it's a good thing; always liked Tim as a finisher, and
with him and Walker fighting it out, that can only be good for
us. We seem to have a good run of wingers coming through...just
need to get them the ball now!

You don't really need to get Tim the ball, as he just intercepts
it all the time
