So Quins will have a fired up, pissed off SGB for the early part
of the season keen to prove a point

If he actually was given a contract extended to this season,
then someone needs to get the beers in for that decision.
Still, no one is going to hold those tackle bags more
effectively.

I'm not sure it's fair to view Dombrandt's omission as a farce.
He's had chances but rarely looked the same player as he has
done at club level.

No arguments here, same can be said for Slade, who is a good
club man but you'd be spending a while looking for a
international highlight reel. JVP is also very lucky to keep his
place, after his breakthrough down under he's been pretty dross.

Until Saturday, where he was finally making the impact in attack
we had all hoped for. And then got dropped.
To be fair, though, if Billy is fit then I kind of understand it
as with Billy, Steward, 9 front rows and 6 halfbacks he needs
everyone else in the squad to be able to play two positions, and
Dommers and Slade don't.
I can see post-RWC England being very different in personnel and
style from RWC England - Borthwick will be brave if he sticks
with the over-30s for too much longer after the tourney (though
I fully support him taking them - if they've got 2 months of
form to give, great for him to make the most of it).

I wouldn't say he was making the impact we had all hoped for. He
had a nice moment when he cantered through and Steward &
Cokanasiga combined to mess up a good chance, and another decent
moment when he bumped someone and passed to Malins, but it was
some way off the sort of performance we know he can put in. It
wasn't even his best England showing - he's done more off the
bench in the past, and had a much better display in one of the
6N games - and he ultimately needed to show he could produce
consistently and he didn't do that.
