thought a drive to Cardiff was a good idea. The roof was on -
yet it was a bright summer's day outside - and it felt very,
very odd indeed. England were awful and the crowd was quite
lairy too.....we were definitely not in Kansas.

I was at that one for my stag do. Seem to remember there was a
fight in front of us between two welsh fans.

It was that sort of day! That's probably one of the worst
England sides I've ever seen and that includes some dark days of
the 1970's selectorial tombola

Dug out a match report and the two squads. Considering it was 12
years ago, it’s pretty incredible how many players are still
close to the Test teams - or at least have been recently:
Wales: Hook, North, Roberts, Henson, Shane Williams, Priestland,
Phillips; James, Burns, Mitchell, Charteris, AW Jones, Lydiate,
Warburton (capt), Faletau. Replacements: Bennett (for Burns,
53), Bevington (for James, James for Mitchell, 77), Turnbull
(for Wyn Jones, 60), Tipuric, Knoyle, Scott Williams (for
Henson, 32), Brew (for Priestland, 41).
England: Foden, Banahan, Tindall (capt), Hape, Cueto; Flood,
Wigglesworth; Corbisiero, Thompson, Cole; Deacon, Lawes; Wood,
Fourie, Easter.
Replacements: Mears (for Thompson, 59), Stevens (for Corbisiero,
59), Palmer (for Deacon, 68), Haskell (for Fourie, 50), Care
(for Wigglesworth, 30), Hodgson (for Flood, 68), Armitage (for
Tindall, 59, Tindall back on 74).

I had a dream last night ..... Brendan McCullum was appointed
Head Coach and Ben Stokes captain of England's rugby team ! Am I
losing the plot ? Certainly, what they have done for cricket is
needed for Rugby.... team spirit, bonding, lack of fear, try
things etc. A case in point is the very recent treatment of
Cadan. Certainly Marcus would hugely benefit from the
Bazball/Stokes philosophy.

Yup. And Blackadder was the choice that could bring that when
Eddie was sacked. Borthwick is clearly a good coach and a deeply
analytical thinker about the game, but he's also obviously
incredibly conservative.
