If a few more teams had tried that approach then we might not
have had 3 teams go under.

Yeah, it's a fair point but it's not really what I was getting
at. Although it may well come to pass depending on the RFU and
PRL's plans, particularly with regards to funding, for Prem 1 &
Prem 2.
All I meant was that I disagreed with never sleep's suggestion
that we look at the owners as subsidising our tickets.

I do go to them but I Hate the Twickenham games, one was just
about OK but 2, imho, is just horrid, I fully understand the
economics for the club ‘if’ they sell out but BSKO this year
must have only just scrapped a profit, if at all.
With the loss of in effect 4 meaningful (1st XV) games in the
last couple of years, the games at Twickenham and massive ST
price increases, £995 x 2 this year, as well as everything else
energy, food, etc I am really close to calling it quits after
over 30 years of following Quins, didn’t think I would even
consider it but with sensible head on not sure that an all in
cost of a minimum of £200 per home game is
justified.😭😭

As long as the club makes a loss, technically they are
subsidising the tickets
Now if the ground were to be sold at a nice profit, that would
of course change things...

is real, I'm umm-ing and ahh-ing myself... But I think your
napkin maths there may have skirted around the impact of Covid
on the club and the general economic environment at the moment
(inflation for one). Just like you and I have a decision to make
over how we keep our own personal balance sheets in order, so
too do the club. I don't for a second think these price rises
are malicious - the club is making the difficult decisions it
needs to make to continue to do business and I don't blame them
one bit, especially having seen what's happened to the clubs
that have gone under.

I keep seeing this argument, but it doesn't make sense on any
level. Rugby ticket prices have never covered costs, that's why
all teams have a sugar daddy. You can't just start deciding to
change the way the club operates.
"given the economic reality of the moment, what would you have
the club do?" What economic reality? The club has never operated
within economic realities. The owners prop it up. I don't think
they are affected by the cost of living crisis in the same way
as the fans whose season ticket prices just went through the
roof.
We were told that there was a massive waiting list, now they are
trying to sell cancelled season tickets. I fear the pricing will
backfire massively, and unless we can seriously improve things
on the pitch then we will see far fewer sellouts.

Making as much money as possible is what the club strives to do.
It’s economics. I fear that the recent huge increases in season
ticket prices will determine how far the regular supporters will
be pushed financially. Have Harlequins bitten the bullet and
found out that by putting the cost of membership up that they’ve
gone too far and will lose many who have followed the club for
decades but can’t afford or feel that it’s more than they think
it’s worth to go to games now.
There will always be people rich enough to go to any
England games at Twickenham, apparently, but is that the same at
The Stoop? I don’t know how much the cheapest tickets for casual
fans will be . It’s probably £45 ish . Will that be too much?
If we get through to knock out games at The Stoop, how much will
we be charged for our seats.
What happens if we’re not very good next season,( it’s only
hypothetical) and we are in the bottom three. Will people still
pack out the stands and buy memberships for the following
season. Could the rises be a short term fix with long term
consequences. I’m borderline at the moment. I can watch lots of
Quins games on the telly at home or in the pub. It’s not the
same but better than nothing.

say but whenever discussion turns this way there's very little
effort on this board to walk a mile in the club's shoes. As
TomBuckQuin says, the club is having to make some difficult
decisions and find a balance between what supporters want and
what is the best option for keeping the club viable. We've had
ample evidence this season of what happens when a club gets that
wrong.

perspective for why they may be why they are. Lack of disabled
parking I agree with you on, but for the others:

discussed at length) why the club might not want to share injury
updates, especially on long term injuries. Return from serious
injury can have high levels of uncertainty around it - players
like Clifford, Buchanan and JTH had long periods where they and
the club were hoping for a recovery but eventually had to make
the decision to retire. It's rational for the club not to make
themselves a hostage to fortune by disclosing too much too soon.
>
> - more toilets: where would you put them? The current site
doesn't have that much empty space, so what could go to make
room for loos?
>
> - properly trained bar staff: the club needs a hundred or so
bar staff once a fortnight, and almost none the rest of the
time. There are inevitably going to be a lot of casual staff and
there's a limited window for training them. Under those
circumstances, you're always going to have a mixed bag of
efficient and slow staff because the club won't be able to
retain the same roster of staff over the course of a season.
Different people have different levels of ability and absorb
information differently. It's frustrating at times but it's not
as if there's a huge pool of experienced bar staff looking for
intermittent gigs on a Friday or Saturday.

Without getting into specifics such as where to put more bogs
etc I would like to highlight the fact that the Club are now
acting like a professional sports club and charging prices
accordingly. Fair enough you might say as perhaps that is
literally the price of success (and here comes the but), however
if we are to be charged top dollar we can no longer forgive the
Club for its wonky pattern of service as if they were our local
Rugby club run by volunteers. They need to up their game.

And for me its the lack of Saturday 3pm fixtures. Friday nights
and Sundays are just not realistic from distance.

Technically, but I'd be astounded if that was their intention.

Brown Bottle,
Across the league, I suspect an extra £24 per match.
Most clubs seem to be losing about £3m per year.
Average gate is just over 10,000 and there are 14 games - but
you need to allow for VAT.
Or, all the staff on six-figure salaries, could take a 10% pay
cut, which they possibly would not notice - due to the tax bands
it is much less than a 10% cut in take home pay.
