We just kept snatching for the glory of scoring a try when what
we needed to do was trust the system, recycle, set up the next
phase, keep gaining ground, repeat ad infinitum. Too many Hail
Mary passes and too many stupid penalties. Too much white line
fever when what we needed was cool heads. Aaaargh!

You can't call it white line fever when it's happening between
the 22 meter lines!

Was there any positives to be taken out of the game? Didn't get
to see it

Positives:
Maul defence was v good
Smith's goal kicking was excellent, he looked dangerous on the
front foot, and his kicking from hand is getting better
Saili is starting to make ground and half breaks (but needs to
pass)
Earle was good in attack and defence
Chisholm started punching holes
We created a lot of chances (but bombed them)
Clifford came on and didn't break

Ok. He’s played how much rugby in the last year?

That was immensely frustrating to watch, because it was a game
that we could and should have won, thrown away for want of
trying too hard to make miracle passes on multiple occasions,
rather than just take the ball in.
On the plus side, we were on the front foot for most of the
game, tended to win the collisions and the breakdown, maul
defence was pretty good and Saili, Kunatani, Earle, Marchant,
Smith, Chis and Clifford all played well.
The main cause for concern was lack of composure in the 22,
followed by game changers who, Cliff apart, added little, and a
scrum that disintegrated late in the game.
However, it was a positive in terms of controlling the game for
long periods and attacking intent, the defence continued to hold
up well (the decisive try was an interception), and there is
still all to play for in the group. Even more importantly,
having Clifford and Saili back and fit makes a very big
difference to our squad depth.

In any case, I for onewasn’t that into him before Quins, and I
get he’s been injured seriously for a good while and that he’s
only just come back, but for me he just doesn’t cut it.

Well, you may well be right but I'm going to give him the
benefit of the doubt a while longer. He barely got used to
playing under JK and now it's changed to Gustard. He'll need a
little time to get the brain "match fit", and that's best done
by playing.
