Even if they increase the cap, are we in a position to afford to
spend any more given the current financial situation.
Cunningham South for sure, Arundell probably not needed as
we have quality wingers. Would be an expensive luxury. There are
players you would like in the squad for extra depth but we’re
not Salarycens……….

According to Charlie Morgan in the Torygraph, "Harlequins and
Bath are two other clubs said to be “respectfully keeping tabs
on the situation” at Irish more generally.".

Based on the only thing that we did wrong is that he sent some
dodgy WhatsApp messages in 2018 (i.e. 5 years ago) which he
apologised for, do you think we should move on from that view?
He was unanimously acquitted of the sexual assault charges.
In the past, we forgave Mike Brown and Danny Care after their
alleged sexual assault case.
Some others did feel that it was time to move on from Folau's
social media postings. Would the same argument apply here?

I don't think that we really need any more players. Getting more
players from other clubs will hinder the progress of our
squad/academy players.
We would be pretty grumpy if, for example, Saracens picked up a
few of our promising junior/academy players - e.g. Cassius
Cleaves for practically no money because we had blown the budget
on Henry Arundell.
Money is tight at the moment. We have to make sure that we are
getting value for money. Our current squad numbers 60 players
(if I have my sums right). Spending money of squad players
(which I include Cunningham-South in as he would be behind
Dommers) would be foolish.

Arundell, would we really? What's he scored, like 10 tries in 2
and a bit years? Irish have been brilliant this season so he
should have been pushing Cadan for top try scorer at least but
hasn't really. I fear another OLH, brilliantly quick but only
scores worldies a couple of times a year. I'm happier with our
stock of wingers, thanks.
Cunningham South, does he improve our squad? I think he does, I
have nothing against Archie White but Cunningham South is a
level up.

As a club we can choose who we sign. If we signed Jackson then
my season ticket would be going straight in the bin. It would be
the same if we signed Folau.
You also have to remember that a number of sponsors, such as
Guinness which been linked to Irish for ages, dropped them over
Jackson's signing. From a purely financial perspective it
doesn't make sense.

But, both Chis and Lawday can also play at #8.
I think that an injury free Chis is a actually a really good #8
and certainly pushes Dommers. Is Cunningham South better than
Chis? Even if he is - is it worth spending the extra cash for a
marginal gain of a better squad player.
In my opinion - no it isn't.

It was not the only thing he did wrong. He was not convicted of
assault but he did behave like scum. Would you be happy if that
had been your daughters then? Would that be ok with you.
I know 6 ex LI fans who did not renew when he was signed.
No way would I contribute that that guys salary.
As for Folau I think every one is entitled to their own opinion
- I do not agree with his sentiment but I do not think you have
the right to tell others what they are allowed to think - he is
very religions and that is part of his religion.
The quran for instance says that gay people should be killed -
that a wife has to obey a husband and a husband is allowed to
hit is wife I have read it and I know it is there. If you are
so wonderfully woke why are you not up in arms about that?

Probably because he's judging Folau for his words and actions.
If Sonny Bill Williams (a muslim) had publicly said gays must be
killed then I'm sure never sleep would be equally unforgiving.
It's not like millions and millions of people don't pick and
choose the bits of the religions they follow to actually pay
attention to, and also make personal choices on how they talk
about and display their religious beliefs that can vary wildly.
But I suspect it's a good idea to go look at the other forum set
up here for this sort of conversation. People will have personal
issues with signing Jackson. Not everyone, maybe not even a
minority, but it's going to be a factor and it's worth
mentioning, but it's definitely not worth trying to litigate
people's personal opinions on the matter beyond acknowleding
they exist.
On Arundell: He looks like a generational talent and any team
would be lucky to have him. But I agree a backrower is likely a
priority. I am also fond of their ginger scrum half who used to
be in our academy apparently, he has a bullet pass.

Surprised no one else is mentioning Will Joseph - the perfect
like-for-like replacement for Marchant...
