One week extension granted to complete the takeover, as long as
current owner pays the current salaries tomorrow. Just
announced.

I think point 1 is the key. So far the proposed buyers have been
long on talk, but short on action.

It is times like this i feel nervous for our own club. I know
Quins have owners willing to bankroll the club's losses. But
they have said over the last decade they want the club to fund
itself. They may get to a point when they are not seeing that
and will want to offload Quins.
What would become of Quins if they want to walk away.
Particularly in these times when rugby is looking precarious as
an investment.

Rugby has never been an investment.
Outside the USA, where the TV money is huge, the salary caps
strict and the number of clubs is restricted - I do not believe
any sports club makes money.

I took a trip over to the Irish message board and a few quite
salty comments about Quins, and how we are interested in a few
of their players. Plus how if they go bust they wouldn’t switch
allegiance.
Also surprised how much they still support the owner despite the
fact that he’s almost destroyed the club. He might have run out
of money of course but that don’t happen overnight, he’s led
them into this predicament. Irish fans would I thought prefer to
have a club paying lower wages and breaking even and losing
rather than vanishing. Especially as traditionally they were
never one of the bigger clubs in England anyway.
If I had a choice of Quins bottom of the league or in the
championship I’d prefer that to no Quins at all.
Fortunately we have more fans, more income streams and greater
revenue so as we not quite in as bad a state. Nearly but not
quite..

Next you will see LI fans fuming I’ve been standing outside
Hazlewood holding a sign with players names on like a taxi
driver in Heathrow arrivals, combined with furiously and
impatiently revving my engine.
No sign of anyone yet. Not a sausage. But I’ll be ready. Must be
out to lunch or something

Summary: LI had the potential of a 1 week extension offered by
the RFU on the proviso that the ppaperwork they've been waiting
5 months for from the proposed new owners finally arrived AND
that May's wages be paid in full on Wednesday by Crossan. This
was initially agreed, but so far no reports that the paperwork
has been filed and the players have been told late on Tuesday
that it will only be 50% of wages paid and they have to agree
not to submit letters of Breach of Contract (as they're allowed
to do), otherwise there's no deal. Doesn't look promising if I'm
honest.

Considering when the US links were first announced, if it hasn't
been finalized now with a clear demonstration of financial
stability and reddies at hand, it probably is very ambitious to
think it will be done in another few days. If I was a LI player,
id be reluctant to agree and start to cut my losses already, as
I'd want to know I have financial security in a short career and
try and find another club whilst there's still time.
