Well to be precise I asked "What ways could an unscrupulous

Very articulate.
In Saracen's case it is very straightforward. The business
partner of all of the key players is a member of the Wray
family. The Wrays have resigned their positions at the club
which means that anything paid to the key players through these
business arrangements is just business and not connected to the
club.
The accounts are clean, the players are well remunerated and the
club wins...
What does it say about the ethics of these players that they
continue to take these payments? Makes it difficult to get
behind them for country let alone as premiership "chamions".

Fascinating — is there clear evidence of that which can be made
public? Via some journalists, for example?

I mean some of these are definitely covered by the regs (payment
in kind and third party deals from people affiliated to the
club). Others are outright fraud (using false names and off the
books payments).

The reality is unless the Salary Cap police can have complete
access to players incomes (both UK and and overseas) outgoings,
where their kids go to school and who owns the deeds on the
house it's impossible to know for sure. I have a feeling that
Mrs Faz probably shreds the bank statements, or get's the maid
to do it!

It is possible that players could have hidden bank accounts,
etc. But, I think it is pretty unlikely.
For a player, there is no punishment for exceeding the salary
cap. However, tax-fraud is a step-up.
I think that, if the forensic accountants were to audit someone
like Faz, they would very easily find out if Mrs Faz was
shredding bank statements - or even if Mrs Faz's maid came into
a windfall and paid for the kids school fees, etc.
It would have been easier in the past with overseas players
families being paid money from overseas companies.
E.g.
1. assume a team had a lot of South African players whose
families remained in South Africa.
2. assume that the club has some South African companies as
backers.
3. these South African companies are holding companies of other
South African subsidiary companies.
4. one of these subsidiary pays for private healthcare and
school fees for members of the players family.
Good luck on unravelling this scenario.

Actually I believe the players and their agents have some
accountability for disclosing income and hiding any could be
punishable by player suspension.
