I don't think Marcus will go - yet. At 24, if he stays fit, he
will be a "shoe-in" at 10 for RWC 2017. Borthwick (or ANO)
should see that.
Besides, he can still learn a lot from NEv.

I can only think it hinges on his RWC squad participation, with
a gentleman's agreement from both sides that Quins would let him
go for a fee if he isn't.
Personally I think Marcus already knows if he off to the RWC (or
not), hence why things appear to be picking up pace. I am now
taking orders for "MQ was right" shirts, available in L-18XL to
accomodate all supporters

Well, I think what we learned from Marcus' time with England was
that pairing a racehorse with a knackered old carthorse doesn't
lead to great results!

It depends on which RWC we're talking about. Marcus may well be
a bit part player at RWC 2023 based on Borthwick's selection to
date and history with the players. But that's the next 5 months
and he's under contract to Quins for that period regardless. The
question is what his future is beyond that. If Borthwick isn't
going to back him after the RWC, I could completely understand
him wanting to follow the same career path that NEv has. If
there's a club who are willing to build a team around him, and a
country that's not prepared to at least give him a proper shot,
it's hard to argue that he should slog away at the latter.

I think ultimately in the short term Marcus has no real need to
play in England with Ford and Faz still on the scene, so that
puts his plans realsitically to RWC 27. I can probably see him
doing a Mercer, in spending a few seasons there in a bid to then
return. He's also won the premiership, so he might as well have
a new experience, earn a lot more, and maybe get further in
Europe.

He's really young to be doing this but I suppose it's all about
miles on the clock and he's racked up a lot of appearances
already. I've basically resigned myself to this happening.
Next season is an absolute cluster in terms of the scheduling
and player availability, and I was hoping that the season after
would be our first sane one in a long time. Looks like it's
going to be one filled with regrets.

Not so. Jones filed a report praising Farrell's game management
and charitable endeavours at the Bermuda Beach 10s on the same
weekend as the RWC final.
