I don't think there is any doubt that all the big French clubs
will be courting him and of course he can be looking around
them. I'm sure his agent is already working stuff up. I'm not
sure what England's training base is for the WC, s maybe a few
England players were looking around a few.
Let's see the photo with him in dark gasses, wearing a hat and
walking with the Racing owner then I may start to panic

I'm not sure a move abroad at the end of next season makes much
sense. Assuming he went for 2 seasons, he'd only give himself
one season back in the premiership to get back into the England
squad. Would make more sense to move immediately after the 2027
world cup.

If I were in Smith's agent's shoes, this would be more of a shot
across the bows for England than for Quins. He has to be in pole
position as the fly half to build post-2023 England around -
because it would be a huge risk to rely on Ford or Farrell being
the best choice (or even still playing) in 2027. He's not been
treated too well by Borthwick so far, so this is a way of
reminding England that he has other options.
He's made it pretty clear that he will go to France eventually -
but I'd expect that only to be after his international career is
done, and he should really only be at the beginning of it.

There’s been enough noise about this that there’s going to be
some truth to it. The guy was at the HC final as well and will
have seen what that is like and had a taste for it.
He’s very suited to playing in a side like La Rochelle (a much
better place for him than Racing given who the coaches are at
each) and only really has a shot at the Heineken by going there
or somewhere like it given the state of English rugby. Hastoy is
a good player but Marcus would turn them into a dynasty.
He’s the best player we’ve produced in my lifetime (and I
include Robshaw in that) and deserves to go to the very top. If
England don’t want him and prefer to start ford after the World
Cup, then he should absolutely sling his hook and go and win a
few Heineken cups and top 14s.
