I'll be happy if we scrape 6th place. Wouldn't have said that
this time last year.

Same no of tries as Saracens, 80 fewer points.
Build scores in close games through taking the three, and sort
the defence out, and we will be right back up there next year.

My wish for next season is that Launchbury stays fit. I think
he'll make a real difference in defence, especially at
set-pieces, and he brings leadership too. With Dombrandt, Smith
and Lewies away/out for large chunks of the season, we did look
a little short of on field leaders at times.

12 wins is enough. We had 7 by Christmas?

If we had taken the 3 when it was on offer, we'd have scored a
lot few tries.

Yup, we conceded 11 more tries than them and were 114 behind on
points difference.

Absolutely right. 3rd most tries conceded is going to make it
difficult. God knows how Saints have got there! We need to have
an improved mentality as well as a stronger defensive system.
New coaching voices and Launchbury will help.
I actually think our attack has been a bit off this season but
the table shows we have been scoring a few more tries than I
realised. That's good but I still get the feeling we leave a lot
of points out there.
On the issue of taking the three, I think there are times where
we should go for it and exert scoreboard pressure. That in
itself might create more try scoring opportunities later in a
game when the team is chasing our lead. There are times, for
example, where we go for multiple scrums close to the line and
the ref doesn't give the oppo a deserved yellow and we fluff it.
All in all, though, I like that we are brave and go for the try.
Let's just make sure we are better at it next season.
Good game today but we should have been out of sight on 65
minutes. Slippery conditions for the boys. Oh well. It's been
frustrating but it has been fun.
When oh when does next season start?!!!

It's not all doom & gloom for next season.
1) We have Launchbury - will add leadership & defence
capabilities.
2) Hopefully Stephan can stay fit - leadership & line-out
improvement
3) Dillon Lewis - a 50-cap TH who is of the same dimensions as
Wilco
4) Dino Lamb - very consistent & still improving
5) Jarrod Evans - a like for like second string to Marcus, but
quicker (see his highlights reel on you-tube) - no disrespect to
Tommy Allan.
6) Will Porter - a good backup to Danny (we've missed a 2nd
string SH like Karl Dickson, who was the best 2nd string in the
league for several years)
7) WEv & Kenningham (with Wallace as a backup - Luke has been
good in line-out too in latter part of the season).
8) Tyrone Green back fit & firing !
9) Cleaves breakthrough season !?
I could go on, but the above are the highlights we can look
forward to next season. If we have good luck around injuries to
key players, I can see (and hope) a top-4 finish may be well
within our capabilities.
