Haven't seen the game at all but a win at Welford Road is not to
be sniffed at. We got the job done which has been a problem all
season so hope we can carry on that way next season

He was also very grumpy in his post match interview that Louis
wasn't carded. But Tempo was absolutely right that there's no
obligation to jump for the ball if you're in position to contest
it (something that the ref got wrong in the Red Roses game when
a French player jumped to get the ball and into an England
player who was absolutely in the right spot to contest it).

I’ve seen that incident and thought that Lois had his eyes on
the ball all the time and was preparing to catch it when Browny
jumped into him. I think it was the right decision not to give
anything. Many players get cards because they get jumped into in
my opinion and I wonder if the players know this and purposely
do it to get sanctions against the oppo.

2nd win there in Prem in ten years apparently
Atmosphere was good for their second sell out game of the season
Thought we were going to blow it, but glad we hung on , 6th is
better than 8th

I’ve been perusing some social media responses to the game
yesterday and the majority think Ashton would have been hard
done by to get a yellow and red is a joke. Lois should have been
given red for taking out Brown in the air and Tempest was
terrible and let us get away with everything. All I’ve seen are
highlights so I commented on what I had seen. Are they right?

No.
Ashton made a high front-on tackle that was hitting up and made
clean contact with shoulder to jaw. Unquestionably red.
Lynagh was competing for the ball, had his arms raised to catch
it, and Brown jumped more than he did. At the moment of contact
(with ball and between both players) if Brown wasn't there the
ball is taken by Lynagh.
Tempest did really well because the TMO had decided for herself
it was definitely a card and only showed closeups that made it
look bad. Tempest was adamant that he needed to see more. It was
clear on the wider replay that both players were converging on
the ball, both were in a realistic position to catch the ball,
and both were trying to do so. Brown did it better and so won
the contest. That's all.

The Ashton tackle was really clumsy. Definitely a card. Maybe a
different ref may have gone yellow.
The Brown tackle was debated for a while on the field. Also,
make a different ref could have gone yellow/red.
The head shot on Alex could also have been yellow. Personally, I
thought that the tackler didn't wrap his arms enough, so I
thought it was foul play. But, also, a different ref may have
decided differently.
Also, a different ref may not have awarded a penalty try.
All four calls could have been different, but, I think they were
all fair enough.
It sounded as though the crowd in the stadium thought that the
pass for the Murley try was forward. But they did check and all
passes did look to go backwards.

No. And remember, the one-eyed fans are disproportionately
represented on social media.
Ashton is a red card all day long. Murley dips slightly, but
it's poor tackle technique from Ashton who has plenty of time to
get lower. Instead he closes the space before bending, at which
time Murley is upon him, and steps into him making a dominant
hit, driving upwards and catching him straight in the face.
Tempest is right on the spot and it's a very straightforward
decision.
Much the same with the penalty try. I've seen whinging that it
was the "first offence" which is completely irrelevant.
Deliberate collapse of the rolling maul when it was motoring
towards the try line and the culprit could be readily
identified.
The Lynagh/Brown incident is certainly one that can be debated.
I think most refs would've shown Lynagh a card as that would've
been the easy decision. Personally, I thought Louis was in a
realistic position to catch the ball, but I wouldn't being
crying into my pint if he'd been carded.
Tempo did let a few things slide at the breakdown for both
sides. Standard and we probably adapted better to his
interpretation.

Have to say Bassett's pass to Cadan for his try to give him 15
for the season was a class and generous act, he was in himself.

Also watch the end celebrations closely, Marchant and Bassett
having a lovely hug, Marcus comes in somewhat enthusiastically
and sticks a nut on Bassett, ouch[attachimg=1]
