So they moved Sunbury into Surrey? Weird. Also, they are in
Green Belt land at Hazelwood so building there is going to be
problematical but you would have thought sufficent "temporary
(cough, Bath...) stands might prove a solution?

He's already offered to sell the club for £1. I don't think
reducing the price is going to push the deal through on it's
own...

There's also the fact that the RFU and PRL got hauled over the
coals by the DCMS committee following the collapse of Worcester
& Wasps, so they are being *very* sure that whoever takes over
at LI more than just scrapes through the "fit & proper persons"
criteria & they have a solid, costed & funded long-term plan
for the club.

Sunbury, traditionally in Middlesex, moved into Surrey in 1965 -
when Greater London was created.
I do not know if selling the club for £1 includes writing off
his debts, if not the price is closer to £30,000,001.

London Irish going down is a dream come true for the Premiership
and RFU businesses....
sealed 10 team league - no relegation
no promotion from championship
use Challenge Cup place as a fop to Championship winners
national players get more time with their team
more recovery time etc between games
with 3x as many players leaving clubs as joining clubs, it helps
keep wages down

Lower wages means that more players are more likely to take up
contracts abroad and the pressure to allow them to still play
for England grows.

And a glut of players without contracts who can't find anyone in
the Prem to take them as there's no money and/or room uder the
salary cap...

If the worst case happens, Prem Rugby will amend the salary cap
to enable LI players to be hired (I suspect). Presumably to a
limit, e.g. an additional £500,000, but only to be spent on
current LI players. But we shall see.

I can't see that happening. The cap is "supposed" to create a
level playing field whilst preventing (all but one) clubs from
overspending. Increasing it instantaneously would defeat both
objectives.
