I could see Mitchell being really good for them if that's true -
he's got a great CV, as you say. It will depend on how he adapts
to coaching women (which requires different person management
skills than coaching men), but if he can do that he brings a lot
of experience from the early days of professionalism right up to
date, which could be very valuable.

She has no previous. Just foating her in because she was England
Captain isn't a great justification.
Diamond is not a good option IMHO

She was Loughborough’s forwards coach while she was still
playing so she does “have previous”. Also, her role is in
helping emerging players transition into the senior side, which
she’s very well qualified to do given the number of players
who’ll have come into the side during her career.
What’s Diamond got to do with it?

And their prize (along with France and Wales) is to join the top
tier of the WXV competition this autumn, along with two other
Pacific sides (including the US and Canada).
I think this could be great for Women's rugby. I can just about
remember Clive Woodward (as he was then) agitating for more SH
games in the late 1990s, which became the AIs. If WXV becomes a
fixture in the season it will give the teams a real chance to
test themelves against top opposition and should accelerate both
the growth of the game and the narrowing of the gaps between the
teams.
The first top tier rouns is in NZ runs at around the same time
as the RWC, finishing a week later, so there's the great
prospect of early morning women's games followed by the men's
knockout rounds later in the day.
