sales. While that might be marketing hyperbole, the figures
suggest it's probably true. I'm seeing how next year goes, but
my brother dropped his season ticket. Much as I'd hate to
abandon the folk I know in the West Stand, I have friends in the
South so I might consider moving there. Please don't get all
political, but I find the ULEZ charge a serious disincentive to
travelling down from Northampton. Then again, my brother's seat
has been sold, the seat the other side of me is sold maybe I'll
make some new chums! We'll see.

Sorry if I'm being a bit dim but will the ULEZ charge affect
anyone driving in to Twickenham?

If it goes ahead and you have an old car yes, but it looks as if
it is going to court.

it's a 2013 Skoda Yeti bought with just under 40K on the clock,
sunroof & leather seats, hardly an old banger but it is diesel.
At the moment I can sneak down to the Stoop by doing M1, North
Circular or M1, M25, M3. If the ULEZ area is expanded on 29th
August as planned, then every trip to the Stoop will cost an
additional £12.50. I can come down by train or use the
motorbike, but both of those have drawbacks.

That’s a bummer. Especially if you have to pay for parking. Must
admit I thought you lived much closer; no idea why. 🙂

Are you sure that the Yeti is not ULEZ compliant?
I am told the definitive way to find out is to start to try to
pay a pretend LEZ penalty. You wil get so far and - if your car
is compliant - be told the charge is not applicable - or words
to that efeect.

the new season start date which they gave as the 1st of June and
any payments would be refunded. Sadly after 12 years I took that
option, I couldn’t at moment justify just shy of 1k on 13 odd
home games with two of those not even at the Stoop.

Things look a little better than last season, given that it
seems the Prem Rugby Cup is moving back to the weekend for next
season, so I think there will now be 13 weekend home games at
the Stoop and two in the dump over the road, but even so, I
cancelled my seats, as my son's playing will always take
priority over our watching, and after a 63% price hike over the
past 2 seasons, the risk of Sunday fixtures means it no longer
makes sense to buy for the season.

I used to live in Teddington, so you're right. I sold up and
moved to Northampton (hiss!) following the birth of a new
granddaughter, so as she grows up I'll be part of her life, not
just some old codger she visits a few times a year. It's turned
out to be far better than I hoped as my eldest son has now moved
here with my other two granddaughters and my youngest son lives
about a half an hour away. Leaves middle son in Croydon, but if
he visits any of us we all turn out! Leaves me nicely positioned
for seeing away games against Northampton and Leicester (and was
Wasps). Am going to the Leicester game next week with eldest
son.
