Ratings (again)

What are ratings? They're the little buttons at the bottom right
of someone's message enabling you to quickly add a comment like
"Agree" or "Funny" or "Bad Spelling" (?). See the image below

I tried to limit use of these, but as the board software
currently works, that has proved impossible. So, no limits
anymore, everyone gets to flag someone else's post as "Bad
Spelling" or whatever.
Be warned, I can remove the ability to post ANY ratings from
individual users, and if I believe a user is misusing ratings,
then that's what will happen.

Damned right it's "optimistic", BB, but what can I do? I really
dislike seeing someone's post labelled "Dumb" with no further
explanation or argument. Moreover, we've had posters on here
just label everything currently discussed "Dumb". I think it's
useful that people can quickly label a post "Agree", but I don't
like them labelling it "Disagree" without stating their
arguments against. The nuclear option is just to remove all
ratings, but that would be a shame.
