Premiership Integrity

Looking at the Saracens team today I have to wonder, is there
any integrity left in the premiership?
Let’s be honest. Sarries fielded a team to lose today. They
could have won that. But they chose not to. They’ve qualified
for the knockouts, so of course, why bother? why risk injury to
their star players?
But it does pose the question - is there any integrity left in
the prem?
Leicester fielded a pretty strong team all year last year, even
when their playoff place was secure. Just saying.

Disagree. Sarries looked pretty good until the red. Would have
been a different game but for that imho

Indeed. They clearly rested players but that was a good team
that scored a try bonus point and only lost by 9 points in a
fairly high scoring game while only having 14 players on the
pitch for 72 minutes.
They most certainly weren't playing to lose.

Sure. The guys on the pitch tried their hardest. I don’t doubt
that. Those guys wanted to win. But do you really think McCall
picked a team he thought gave Sarries the best chance of a win?
Of course not.

To emphasise. Was McCall thinking, when he picked that team,
“this is the team to give us the best chance to win this game.”
?
Or was he thinking “let’s keep our best players fresh, I don’t
care if we lose, I don’t want an injury to a key player”?
Pretty simple. Pretty obvious.

Don’t see the problem as anyone with a niggle would have been
rested, especially as they have already got a home semi, tbh I
think most team would have done the same....

Oh yeah that one. All their best players had ‘niggles’. Of
course. Come on.
Let’s be clear. Sarries are perfectly entitled to pick a second
string team. I’m not saying what they’ve done is wrong. But I do
think it brings the integrity of the prem into question.

Of course he didn't. He didn't need to. He didn't throw the game
though; that team could have won.

Well Sarries did a damn sight better than we did away at Saints.

Er. Didn't we do exactly the same when we won the league?
