Are you able to remove the SD memory card from the camera - -
and, is there a slot on the Chromebook for SD memory cards? If
so, then this is probably the quickest and easiest way of
transferring photos.

I live chatted with Canon who confirmed that they don't support
Chromebook...
Yes I have a removable SD Memory Card in the camera but no I
dont have a slot on the Chromebook for it. I have ordered a call
girl now (card reader).....

Yeah, that's obviously a solution but new(ish) Chromebooks
should support Android apps. Regardless of whether Canon support
Chromebooks I'm sure they produce an Android app. I must admit I
thought Chromebooks had always supported Android apps but
apparently not.
Can you see the Play Store app on your Chromebook?

As a Chromebook user for a while, I can say that *unless the
manufacturer decides otherwise* all Chromebooks released from
2019 onwards support Android app installation. In, this
particular case the main issue will be what sort of connection
the app is expecting to make to communicate to the camera. I
know that some cameras connect to an android phone using NFC to
enable the transfer of data, but it's rarer for a Chromebook to
have NFC built in.

Too early to tell. Once the card reader arrives and the photos
are downloaded from the SD card on to the Chromebook, we may
learn that there are photos of rugby.

The card reader has arrived and works after a fashion. There is
a rugby ball involved being handled by my FEC grandson if that
helps.
BB I do have Play Store app and will investigate further.....FF
what is a NFC, please?
