Yes and then they bought the 9 hole golf course at Hazelwood and
turned it into their training ground and home of their amateur
and jumior/mini teams.
Their old ground is now houses/flats.

Yeah, makes sense. Went there to see Quins and it seemed to be
in the middle of a load of houses. No way they could have built
a stadium there
Wouldn't have minded one of the houses!

Sign for Saracens and they’ll give you some.

They wanted to build a stadium at their old ground off The
Avenue in Sunbury but there was a local campaign against the
“London Irish traffic”. All the houses round there have
plentiful off street parking but having a game there 17 half
days a year was too much for the locals. They built loads of
houses on the site and have traffic every day of the year now.
Karma?

I overheard a couple of Hoorays having a conversation on the
tube to Seven Sisters on Saturday to the effect that LI were (a)
bust, and (b) up for sale. I thought it was a bit of beer
induced blah blah blah but maybe there is something in it? The
£1 price reflects that they may have no assets other than
Premiership shares, no ground and, very allegedly according to
my lagered up Henry, Brentford has served two years' notice on
LI at the new stadium. Brentford do have the worst pitch in the
footy Premier League as a consequence, and may feel they can
live without the rent? Oddly Spurs have the best pitch in the
premiership if only because they have £200 million of manure on
it every fortnight.
But......overhearing something on the tube is probably several
degrees less reliable than seeing posted on line or being told
it by a bloke in the pub.

Maybe, but it doesn't sound unreasonable.

I wonder if the two year notice is so that Brentford could get
rid of Irish if there are any problems with the pitch or
anything else. A rolling two year deal seems sensible.Having
anything longer would make it difficult for Brentford to resolve
pitch problems which is the most likely problem to occur.

FWIW I've been told by a director of London Irish that it's 7
years notice or two years with £30-35m exit fee from Brentford
due to our role in getting it built.

Think Hazelwood is owned by the amateur club who use it for a
range of community activities alongside the training facilities
for the professional team.
