Simon isn’t in their league. Millions rather than billions I
believe.
Not sure I agree with all of your conclusions either I’m afraid.
You almost seem to have created some of the European football
leagues (Scotland, Spain, etc) where there are 2 massive
clubs/brands. These guys achieve success not necessarily by
growing talent but by paying what they want to foreign players
who are far better than the local options.
Not sure how much joy any team would have against a back line
of:
DuPont
Smith
Penaud
Andre
Am
Kolbe
Keenan
🤣🤣
And despite what the RFU may think, Leicester isn’t the north
😡

Not sure how well this has worked for Wales.

Yeah - that would be a little tricky.
Maybe there would need to be some limits in the number of EQPs
that could play in any Premiership game.
But, conversely, if they are playing Toulon in Toulon, then let
them choose this team if they can.

i think that Wales was a different kind of mess.
1. There are two many teams in the top bunch. Ireland has 3
provinces that are managed by the central Union. (I believe that
Connacht are treated separately). But, it looks as though most
of the Irish team actually come from just 2 provinces.
2. In Wales they almost destroyed the club game in creating
making their regions. In my idea of Super-Prem clubs, they
wouldn't be tinkering with these.
I can't imagine that a lot of the new fans that Sarries have
picked up during the last few years would mind it at all if they
were able to recruit more world class players.
Maybe the fans of these clubs may start to get a bit bored if
they were just winning all the time. But, that didn't seem to
affect Chermont during the (7 year???) perios when they did not
lose a single game at home.
**It should be pointed out that this isn't an idea that I have
been thinking about for a long time. It just came into my head
while reading the opening post this morning.

The Irish International team is rightly being lauded, but let's
be honest, their domestic competition is a complete yawn fest.
Who honestly wants to watch Leinster's B or C team rolling
others over.
The French have both a thriving International team and a club
based domestic competition without central contracts. That's
what we should be aiming for.
I'm far from convinced central contracts are the answer.

Of course.
Let us keep all our internationals and not actually pay them.
And buy more internationals. And not pay them. Or pay them but
keep it outside the cap.

That’s the bit I never get about the praise for the Irish set
up. People suggest it must be the answer because Ireland are
doing so well but ignore the success France have had.
Neither of them might make a World Cup semi final though.

And the French success has taken years and years and a big old
TV deal and many very wealthy owners to get to this point where
both are in a position to thrive. It wasn't so long ago that
France were underperforming as badly as England.

It could go either way. Just compare our approach to London
Irish. They've always tended to go fewer superstars, meaning
fewer lost to international duty, maybe less likely to beat
teams when they've got all their internationals, but more likely
to win when the internationals are away.

Who on earth is going to pay to watch one of the pointless nine
who'll never make it to the top of the tree?
Don't get me wrong, I love watching my club as well, despite
them being several levels lower down the tree, but they've got a
level playing field with the other teams in their league, so
fair competition.

Players actually now get around £16-17k rather than £25k. The
players voted to split the match fees amongst the wider training
squad so that everyone gets paid, whether or not they're
selected for the final matchday squad of any given game week.
