My fave line is 'farrell is as fine a springboard for attack as
any in the English game'.
Your frequent reminder that a 'rejuvenated england' didn't
manage a single line break vs Ireland.

Our centres must be absolutely gutted that Marcus keeps nicking
all that space. Ester and march have just been starved of space.
And cadan, will nobody think of poor cadan?

'Farrell is as fine a springboard for attack as there is in the
English game. His season with Saracens, as ever, is being
mutilated by the continual absences of their great players but
in the blessed time in the first part of the season, Farrell and
company were setting up a try barrage every week.'
Surely this is the most vomit-inducing part of this myopic
windbag's rhetoric ?

What has he ever actually done in rugby other spout drivel?
He really doesn't like Quins or anyone who might have ever had
anything to do with them. I might suggest that Ugo and Danny
know a bit more about pro rugby than the old Welsh windbag. At
least the Times podcast occasionally don't have him on. It's
much better without him, the other presenters actually seen to
have a few interesting things to say. Even if I don't have with
everything at least they aren't full of spite and bile.

much the same comments as on here

I don't think anyone doubts that Owen is a good player. A very,
very good player. I also don't know anyone who doesn't also rate
Smith highly, even those who really don't like Quins.
Quite why Jones is so over the top about Farrell, is a complete
mystery; similarly, why he plays Smith down so much. Or any
other Quin, actually.

I have seen people who are saying that Smith is a good club
player who doesn't seem able to step up to international level,
or that he's had a lot of chances and not sparked the attack,
and even that he's another Alex Goode - great at club level but
not got what it takes at the higher level.
Meanwhile, Farrell, who hasn't exactly presided over a glorious
winning run in the past few years, gets a pass for his
experience, kicking and tackling (despite, I think, a worse
completion rate at international level than Smith), and Ford
lives on in glorious memory.
Dombrandt's coming in for similar flak, basically for not
producing his club carrying form. I haven't seen reliable stats,
but eyeballing the games Dommers seems to have had a higher
level of involvement than the other back rows (across tackling,
hitting rucks and carrying) and has made more yards in traffic
than the others. But hey, he's a fancy Dan who can't replicate
his showy form on the big stage.

Possibly. Although not both teams.

Years ago somebody told me that Jones was renowned (allegedly)
for leaving games early to avoid the traffic and relying on a
junior reporter to finish off the piece and get it filed
