After returning to fitness against Bristol yesterday Harlequins
prop Will Collier one of six Harlequins called into England’s
training camp ahead of their final 2023 Six Nations clash
against Ireland.
The scrummaging powerhouse joins club mates Alex Dombrandt,
Marcus Smith, Jack Walker, Joe Marchant and Cadan Murley. The
six Quins will link up with England this morning.

Good for him. I doubt he will make the cut but he's probably
more Borthwick's cup of tea in the long term than he was
Eddie's.

You've got to wonder at what point Cadan Murley starts to think
'Stuff this'. I get it's a game he has to play if he wants to
get capped, but he must be getting fed-up with half a week with
one team and half a week with another. It can't be doing his
form much good.

He should also know that it isn’t a case that everyone in the
Series squad gets a cap.
As long as there is constructive feedback and he can understand
why he’s not getting in the squad, I’d guess he is unlikely to
think it’s not worth being there.
On the other hand, if the coaches are giving that feedback and
any player did strop off (which “Stuff this” suggests to me),
I’d question his overall attitude.

Delighted for Collier.
At the moment Murley hasn’t really lost anything by not playing
IMO. He could easily have been in the same boat as
Hassell-Collins.
He’s clearly doing enough to keep in the mix, but I’d argue he’s
in a better position to make his debut when the team is in a
better place rather than playing now and being hung out to dry.

The frustration with Murley is that Watson is getting picked
ahead of him. There are lots of good back 3 players in England
and those who can play both wing and full back have an
advantage, certainly in terms of being bench cover. If you're an
out and out winger and not in the starting XV, you're not likely
to feature on the bench.
So Murley being behind OHC was fair enough. But Watson has
leapfrogged them despite showing no real form. He's in there on
past glories and hasn't done much so far to justify it

Watson does play for Leicester though. That gives him instant
priority.

But as you said, those who play wing and fullback are at an
advantage.
