France played superbly. Dupont is such a joy to watch. Fickou
and Danty were superb in the centres while their forwards were
excellent in all areas but the scrum.
England just played without any real intelligence at all. The
back row had an absolute stinker, JvP too. I have no idea what’s
going on, but something isn’t right. That was the most gutless
performance I’ve seen in a long long time.

It looked like they weren’t sure how to play. Like they didn’t
believe in what they had been told to do. The French were
magnificent and well up for it. The only consolation is that the
South Africans were in a similar situation before the last World
Cup and that turned out alright for them.

I didn't see Smithy do too much wrong. I did however see the
England forward pack get utterly outplayed by the French
🙈 We were second best at the breakdown by miles, same
story at the lineout too. Dupont was incredible, honestly that
to me was the proof of the old adage about "forwards decide who
won games". Our back row in particular just came off 3rd/4th
best if that's possible. We did improve when Mitchell came
on.... Maybe JVP had been training with Ben Youngs too much?

Borthwick was apparently a forwards' coach
And yet - that pack was abysmal.
Which meant we never found out if the backs could do anything.
Poortvliet was too slow at delivering what little ball he got.
Is SB to blame, or are those really the best players in England,
playing at their best
In which case, is the problem is with the structure of the
Premiership?
And how many points will Ireland score?

At least the prices now make sense. If nobody wants to bring
their kids, they’ll never be subjected to that dire performance

The structure of the whole game is looking shaky. The
Premiership has issues but I feel that you’ve got so many
‘interests’ pulling in different directions within the game. Too
easy just to blame the RFU too.

EJ is also substantially responsible for the levels of
performance. England have been dire since Autumn 2020.

Marcus sadly didn’t win over the neutrals. Good news for us
though!

Not necessarily. If he is not getting into the England side he
may seek a bigger pay day abroad. I wouldn't blame him either.

I fully expect him to go to do a Finn Russell for a bit.
Certainly France would suit him
