For those who missed out, the big announcement was that Kaiser
Chiefs are playing the April game.
That is frankly superb by the club. Cant wait.

Got to say that this surprised me. That's quite a coup for the
club & should make for an excellent day at the Big Stoop!

The club seems to have switched its approach from “latest
X-Factor star” to “established act that will actually enjoy
playing at the gig” and it’s made a huge difference.

Last few lives acts have been good. I always enjou3d Pete Tong
and he performed a good session.
Craig David surprised me at how good he was.
I've seen Sister Bliss before doing DJ sets so always knew her
work/Faithless would be good.
But Kaizer Chiefs??? That is another level. I know they needed
to do something special to get people in for BSKO so soon after
BG and this is it. I'm more excited to see them live now than
the match.

I'd guess it's a combination of factors:
First few years no-one was sure how successful BG woud be, so
more established names would steer clear.
TV Talent Show winners were an easy "win" in terms of marketing
as those shows were at their prime in the late '00s/early '10s,
so there was name recognition among the general populus at
least, and the shows would be building towards a run at the Xmas
#1 spot, so it would coincide with exposure at BG.
Availability of acts is always dependent on where they are in
respect of their recording & touring schedules.
BG is now established as probably the most successful version of
the concept of taking a club game & making a big event out of
it. Other clubs have tried it, and the only one with anywhere
near the same level of success is sarries, and that's only when
we're the opposition. We're now a more attractive opportunity
for acts, and they are looking to get back out in front of
crowds after having to basically shut up shop for two years over
the pandemic.
As for BSKO, could we actually be trying to do something
different to how we've done a BG/BSKO in the past? Have the game
first then the KCs can set up with a proper stage after the game
is over for a longer set...

And a proper sound system would be nice...

Didn't realise they were a charity act now. 🙂

Surprisingly good addition. My own taste is geared towards
rock/metal so most of the acts haven’t been my cup of tea but
this is a solid choice.
Maybe next year we can take it a step further and get Motley
Crue to do a little show

My wife and I were weighing up whether to attend the BSKO this
year. Hearing the announcement of Kaiser Chiefs at half time
swayed our decision in less than 10 seconds. Massive W by the
club

This is a blinding idea FF.
That’s worth putting forward to the club. If they can’t do it
for this year it’s certainly valuable feedback for the years
ahead
