I agreed but it is very unlikely.
He got more turn overs than any other backrower today. Perhaps
we should play him at 6, if he wants to be know as just a
defensive player.
Please, please stop kicking all the time in the opposition 22,
when we get turn overs etc...etc...

If he wants to "transition" to a back row player fine, he
deserves his chance (and I'll laugh as he gets annihilated).
But it is NOT what the 10 should be doing. If the 10 is needing
to shove his head into rucks ad nauseum we lose the strategic
direction on field. This was the problem today.

I am being a bit tongue in cheek. We need a ten, that sees the
space, kicks his goal, kicks when it is on. But also plays the
game when it's on.
Step up Marcus Smith!

Or just anyone but Farrell, Stephen Jones thinks he's the best
thing since sliced bread, which of course means the absolute
opposite.....

Would make sense to release Marcus for Big Game next week and
get some game time 🤔

I was quite happy in a way that Smithy didn't get much time
today and Farrell played at ten for most of the game, that way
Farrell wholly owned that risible performance and Marcus wasn't
a convenient scapegoat for it as he was against France with some
people (and not just that ludicrous clown that writes for the
Times).

I understand why Borthwick wants Farrell there now that I’ve
seen two games without Marcus. It’s largely to do with how they
defend, which with Farrell at 10, is basically with three
centres and doesn’t allow mismatches against a smaller ten like
smith and ford. Either would be less effective. Defence has been
excellent the last three weeks and I don’t see them changing it.
Marcus could fit in, but Farrell also the defensive line, which
means if he doesn’t play, someone else has to do it, and Marcus
has to play a role he isn’t familiar with. He defends (at his
best) differently to what sinfield seems to want. He’s more like
a faf de Klerk who can shoot up aggresively and fill gaps
scrambling than someone who can lead the line.
The biggest risk is that Marcus becomes disillusioned with the
lack of game time, and heads off to France / the southern
hemisphere (which would really suit him) for the money knowing
he’s not going to get to play for his country, to our obvious
detriment.
He’s done nothing wrong, but he’s a luxury item to Borthwick.
Farrell gives them options in their game plan, and ford knows
what they want from the attack having played for him at
Leicester. There’s probably situations that haven’t arisen that
would give him more minutes (chasing a game, or a BP with the
game won) but these haven’t played out.
For what it’s worth, I can also see why he hasn’t played Cadan
either. He clearly puts value on aerial threats on the wings.
Marchant makes a lot more sense for how the wingers are used
than Cadan does. The silver lining is we might see both Marcus
and Cadan in the quarters more often should they be released.

If you thought the defence against Scotland was excellent then
you must have been watching a different game to me.
Farrell doesn't give England options. He limits England to one
style of play.

It’s been three calendar weeks including this one since the
Italy game week. I watched the same Scotland game as you did.
And your latter point is exactly what I am saying. Farrell
enables the style of play that England want to play, namely the
one style he offers. Those that offer a more attractive style
from the fly half position are not going to see much game time
as a result.

Are you sure about your maths?
England v Italy was on the 12th Feb
Today is the 26th Feb
14 days = 2 weeks?
