Most players playing in position they play for clubs,
exceptions are Lawrence and Slade both normally play 13 (do we
no good English 12s?), Ludlam mostly lines up at 7 and Willis
       at 6 or 7, but I don't think there's much issue there.

Even less of an issue, since Ludlow isn't playing.

get me wrong, Allan is a good player, but the drop off from
Marcus to him is substantial and it seems strange that one
starts at HQ this week and the other doesn’t.

It’s not that bizarre considering the 10 quality for England and
Italy - if they were both playing for the same nation then sure,
but I don’t think anyone is thinking Allan is better than Smith
       because he’s starting for Italy

A choice needed to be made, and this is as good a game as any to
test the radical 'one fly half' policy. However, this choice
most likely means that unless Farrell is injured, all Smith will
get is a cameo with Farrell at 12, revealing nothing about the
potential of his Farrell-free game. Feels rather like he's
being managed out - but the remaining games will clarify whether
       that's the case.

I hope you're wrong on the second part. I do think Marcus will
get some decent game time. Hopefully without Farrell on the
pitch. As we saw in the last 20 against NZ when Marcus Doesn't
have the stifling presence of Fazlet outside him he can do great
       things in an England shirt.

He going to take someone else off so Farrell can move to 12 and
Marcus comes on at 10. Then we lose the game.i can just see
       that.

Agree with Sketchley, can't see how Marcus gets any recognition
out of this at all, would rather he wasn't there at all if he's
       not starting.
If England win, its only Italy, if England are losing and Smith
comes on and doesn't win it he's not international class.
Let's see Farrell at 10 against Wales, Ireland & France and then
in the WC and then move on. If England win all of those, we're
delighted, if not we know that better times are ahead.

I also am happy to wait until after the WC, where hopefully Faz
calls it quits. There will be other world cups for Marcus.
The problem for the neutral is after hearing the club rugby rave
reviews and seeing Finn control the game the way he did
yesterday, they will already be writing Marcus off asking the
question why hasn’t he done that for England(particularly when
they see how many caps he has already).
I do want Farrell to succeed; because I’m English, and want to
see England perform well. Hopefully we have much quicker service
off the base of the ruck (which I think with Willis there should
be possible as he is great over the ball).

He’s only 31 and playing well (at least for his club). I can see
him going for another World Cup.
