Is the reduced capacity a fall back as if a strike is announced,
games will still go ahead, bet the club is sweating on the next
       10 days and any announcement.

I think that the reduced capacity is based on the difficulty of
       selling 80,000 tickets.
Basically, it is easier to sell 80k tickets round Xmas time when
people are all looking for an activity to do with
       friends/family.
But, it is more difficult on a random Saturday in March when
people are still paying off the Xmas credit card bills.
So, they have been sensible and reduced the target.
They then say that closing the top tier will mean that the
atmosphere will be better in the 2 open tiers.

The reduced capacity will just mean the upper tier won't need to
be staffed/bars stocked etc saving on the costs.

The Mark Evans metric was that 50k was equivalent in profit to a
sellout home game, and anything above that was mostly profit. So
55k is still worth doing but probably earns about £200k less
than usual. That could be partially offset by BSKO and the club
may have had some insurance in place, but it's going to be a hit
versus what they'd have been planning for.

The Mark Evans 50,000 mark though was when tickets were being
flogged off dirt cheap. Tickets are now properly priced I think.
It might still be the same mark though, as we probably have to
pay more for the stadium now, but I doubt the club would bother
if we're only making an additional profit based on 5,000 fans

So annoying, potentially 8 empty seats great idea to swap games
       though

It's not often I have a thought which is fairly accepted! But in
       this case, I really don't know why it isn't a possibility. I'm
almost certain if everyone who was a ticket holder, or was
interested in attending, would always pick the earlier kick off
       if asked.

They don't have much choice but to "bother" - they've presumably
already sold more tickets to the Big Game than the Stoop can
hold, and not had so many handed back that it drops back below
14,500. And average profit per game was at around £300,000, so
even an extra 5,000 tickets at £10k a pop is worth having, even
more so if it's going at more normal prices.

I suspect (based purely on gut feeling) that there would be such
a small number waiting to see the ladies that it would not look
good, and would have a poor atmosphere. Many people may come
along early either to beat traffic or simply to enjoy the
atmosphere building for the men's game.

I went to watch an England ladies match when it was help after a
Mens match a few years ago.
It was a dreadful experience. Basically, they close all of the
bars and facilities 2 hours after the main game finishes.
Therefore, they were closing bars and toilets and even making us
move seats during the 2nd half of the game.
And, there lots of really, really drunk people still hanging
around. So, the stewards had work to do.
       Really not great.
