Best not tell him about verse six of the National Anthem then...
       Lord grant that Marshal Wade
       May by thy mighty aid
       Victory bring.
       May he sedition hush
       And like a torrent rush
       Rebellious Scots to crush
       God Save the King."

       That's Tefler's point though isn't it - Scotland's national
identity in Flower of Scotland is defined as being anti-England.
While for the equivalent to the UK it's not even worth a mention
until a minor later verse that never made it into the official
anthem. It's not an even balance of sentiment, and makes
Scotland look very small to define themselves in this way.

If FoS wasn't such a great sports anthem that realy builds up
the atmosphere before games I think it would've been changed a
while back. But it's a great experience hearing it.

       It’s basically pathetic virtue signalling
Having said that- it doesn’t really matter, people can still
sing it if they want. And I bet they definitely will now..

It's only the official choirs that have been told not to sing
it. If people in the stands sing it, that's up to them.

I love "Flower of Scotland" done at Murrayfield. The pipes, the
       singing, the acapella finish!

Are they banning every song, show, poem & film that reflects
passion, desire and sensuous jealousy ?
Take, for instance, below, the very risqué, erotic poem "UPON
JULIA'S CLOTHES" written by the 18th century poet Robert
Herrick. Would this rate qualify for a ban alongside Delilah
       ?????
"Whenas in silks my Julia goes,
Then, then (methinks) how sweetly flows
       That liquefaction of her clothes.
Next, when I cast mine eyes, and see
That brave vibration each way free,
O how that glittering taketh me!"

Maybe "ban" is the wrong word. But why stop the choir from
singing it when the crown love it? And why announce it?
