Shocking decision, surely this was known before the LI game ,
with this and the decision to release Farrell for the last round
so he is able to play against Scotland shows the RFU try to
control the game as much as they can

pick the England team or squad.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised at the 10 Smith / 12
Farrell combo lining up against Scotland - I figured that was
pretty much assured as soon as Farrell was announced as captain.
Smith too special to leave out, Farrell too announced-as-captain
to leave out - so what other option is there realistically?
Bench Smith? I don't see that happening.

That’s exactly what many commentators are suggesting should
happen based purely on the fact that the system hasn’t worked
and Farrell is captain.
Personally, I think Smith-Farrell can work. Just like
Ford-Farrell, Sexton-Farrell or any number of SH first
5/8th-second 5/8th combos.
