If this gets closer, anyone saying “it’s just what we do” or
“it’s the Quins way” will be asked to hand in their membership
cards with immediate effect.

What an irritating performance to watch. Braindead discipline in
the first half and some really poor decision making. A
reluctance to take Care off (I understand why, in Lewies'
absence) really hurt us - Irish have just scored as a direct
consequence of him missing touch when we were down to 13 - and
while we never gave up the performance has never been good
enough.
The red was a clear red despite CCS's obvious illegality. I
understand why the upright tackle wasn't given because despite
the head snapping back that looks like whiplash from the hit to
the chest. Far more minor decisions irritated me, though - like
Danny being taken out late before a break from Irish, or both
the "no arms" decisions against Quins and Irish 5m out that were
complete inventions. The ref isn't the reason why we were miles
behind on the scoreboard after half an hour and frankly we
deserved a big loss today. So many errors, so many poor passes
or rubbish offloads or poor tackles or silly penalties... and
yet again the lineout falls apart without Lewies on the pitch.
Full credit to Irish for a very direct and organised
performance, they largely nailed their moves and guys like
Pearson are absolutely superb. Their approach can't be faulted
and they did not let up for any significant amount of time.
Quins coaches need to learn how to get a tune out of the team
when they can't rely on being able to select the same team every
week. Whenever there's disruption we seem to really struggle,
worse than other teams.

the ball forward instead of scoring off a maul.

I am glad thats over.
Unfortunately I think the rot may have set in and making the
play offs with the reverse fixtures we have, is looking very
difficult now.

I think your last paragraph is key Jammy. When the international
periods come along whole team performances seem to go to bits.

It’s a very very odd season but we have gone backwards again.
4 defeats in a row in Prem.
Sharks win was a team playing a way we haven’t really seen since
near the beginning of the season:
The win against Racing at home wasn’t exactly a top performance
except in defence.
Last year it didn’t feel like we were lost without Marcus and
Dommers - this year it does.
Maybe I didn’t realise how much we needed Tizzard - is that
where we’re just not getting enough ball?
Anyone?
