Lewies clear red Let's see if the other one gets cited.

I agree that the Lewies incident is a clear red.
I don't agree with the above about him being a thug and
deserving of a life time ban. That is a joke comment.
In my view, he goes in to clear a player out. The player goes
off his feet, which means that he isn't at the place where
Lewies is expecting him to be.
Therefore, even though he goes very low, he still catches the
       player in the head.
I don't know what his discipline history was like before joining
Quins, but I can't recall him getting any cards since joining
Quins. So, I would expect the ban to start at the mid range and
be reduced by 1/2 based on the mitigation above about the player
       being off his feet.
. . .Unless he eats the biscuits of course.

I think that the entry point is 6 weeks
So - I think it could go down to a 2 match ban if he has a good
record and he does a course to improve his technique.
       Have I got this right?

Cobus Weise got a similar red v Toulouse recently. He got 4
weeks reduced to 2 for good behaviour. However there is also a
ruck equivalent of tackle school which got him another week off
so he only missed a week.

I find this "school" concept a bit weird. They are professional
rugby players; if there's anything they can learn from these
schools surely they should be doing it as part of their job.

Again, not when we're trying to generate quick ball. I dunno
what you guys have been watching - do you only notice it's
Marler when he does the upright "safety carry" or something?
He's been punching into the defence in their 22 all season.

Can't speak for anyone else but I'm referring to defensive rucks
       he sets up.
If he did what I'm talking about in attack I don't think we'd
       give him the ball.

Oscar needed treatment after the tackle and there is a picture
going round of the head contact, unless they were just having a
kiss of course. Does it matter how hard the head contact is?
Perhaps it only counts if you’re KO’d.
I’m not complaining about Steph’s card, if you do that in a
ruck these days and it’s spotted you’re off.

I don't recall treatment but he certainly didn't need an HIA.
And, yes, impact does count. The main impact was with the ball
that Beard was holding to his chest. Pictures mean nothing, you
       need a video.
If the Beard incident was worse than Steph's deffo red why
wasn't he cited? It's not as if no-one noticed.

Right, yes, okay, good. The defensive rucks are set up like that
for very good reason and are a positive, not a negative. Zero
risk of being turned over. Ball presentation on our terms.
Staying inside the 22 if it's relevant.
The carrying he does in the opposition half is always with
intent and isn't the "soft" carry that QP referenced in his
original post. Hence my surprise that people think there's been
       a change!
