Yup, it's deliberate. He has the power to ensure that the
contact happens on his terms and almost never looks like getting
turned over. It's very effective.
He doesn't carry like that in the opponent half though!

Trouble is he only makes about a yard with his "standard" carry.

I must admit I didn't see much difference between how he was
carrying when we wanted quick ball at the weekend vs how he's
been carrying when we wanted quick ball in other matches. He
regularly carries into their biggest defenders and it's up to
them to stop him.

I knew we were doomed the minute it started raining just before
kick off. Then Steph gets a red for less than the head on head
against Beard which got absolutely nothing. Irish are a good
entertaining side who’s position in the league up til now hasn’t
reflected on how well they’ve played. I think that people forget
that the team you are playing are also trying to win. They make
mistakes that let us off the hook too.
As mentioned I wonder if in the players minds they only
think we can dig ourselves out if Marcus is playing. Dommers
also brings leadership and energy and Steph makes a big
difference too.

Lewies red card is a big issue with Smith and Dommers away.
Still, an opportunity for others to step up (hopefully).
Doesn't help in the here and now We'll, but we'll have another
real leader next season in Launchbury.

Steph's red was fair and the Beard tackle was nothing

The red card was fully justified, and its that type of behaviour
that will kill Rugby Union its going into Rucks like that cause
the head injuries as much as the tackles. If players don't
change then the likelihood is that insurance companies won't
play ball, and if it becomes impossible to get cover, the game
will die. There is to much thuggery in top flight rugby that
needs lifetime or lengthy bans. Its ridiculous that a head shot
can get a similar ban than that as Joe being a bit gobby.

Quins of old. Massive wins surrounded by dross. Also, we do have
our unavailability issues but so does everybody else.
