Sharks' disallowed try

Hopefully someone on here can clarify.
I thought that a try couldn't be chalked off once the conversion
kick had been taken? I seem to recall teams hurriedly taking
kicks for this reason; and many players are stopped from taking
kicks when a try is being questioned.

As of 1 July 2022, the protocol changed. The TMO can advise the
referee to make a formal check of a try up until the restart,
rather than the conversion. This follows the 2022 Italy v
Scotland Six Nations game where a knock-on in the build-up to a
try was not shown to the TMO until after the conversion so could
not be formally checked before the restart.

The other factor on Saturday was that the ref couldn't hear the
TMO at the time due to a comms issue. It was quite clear in the
reflink that the TMO was trying to get the ref to slow down so
he could check something and went "Check Check" before the kick
was taken.

I don't know, their mics aren't always on the reflink. But I
suspect that it was one them that pointed it out to the ref
after the kick was taken.

Ref’s radio wasn’t working, he was alerted by one of the line
judges and explained this to the captains after the kick was
taken
