That was one big performance from the boys and a brilliant win.
How good did it feel to be at The Stoop in dry conditions with
the sun shining and the fans up for it. As soon as it was
announced that we had Steph Lewies back in again at lock and
Dino at 6 it felt like we had a chance against a big Sharks
outfit.
Marcus did look class as Tabs has said, but I doff my cap to
Stephan - to play the full 80 after being out for 18 months -
and perform so well - in such a high class game was an amazing
and brave effort. Well done Steph!

Big day out so just catching up with the thread.
Our best game at the Stoop for some time. Thought the final
score line flattered the Sharks.
David deservedly star of the match. I was excited when we signed
him from Worcester and last year he didn’t really get a crack,
largely due to Green’s superb form. Good to see him taking his
chance.
The pack really fronted up today. Lewies gets the headlines,
understandably so as he seems to have single handedly fixed our
line out, but I thought Lamb had an excellent game today.
If they can all stay fit then we’ve got a serious engine room
next season with Launchbury, Lewies, Lamb and Herbst.

I saw the Leinster v Racing game when I got home.... Leinster
were "average" by their standards, but they really will take
some beating. Only Toulouse, Stormers or La Rochelle can stop
them in my opinion (but only if they play out of their skins,
and/or Leinster are "average").

The ball being out is one thing but as you say he is offside
when he starts the movement forward. I am probably wrong and
will soon be corrected, but, I always was of the understanding
you need to be behind your furthermost players feet who is in
the ruck. Looks like Etzebeth is beyond this.

They did check for offside and he was ok.

Fair enough, watched it a few times again on my phone with my
glasses on this time. It would seem then that what appears to be
a back foot at the ruck Etzebeth is beyond was from their hooker
charging into the ruck seconds before that and not part of the
ruck before that. Amazing the distortion a still image can give
and the distance from the big screens at the Stoop. Hopefully
teams learn from this. I still believe that Etzebeth should have
stepped back to be in line with his team mates back foot before
stepping forward when he thinks the ball is out, can’t tell if
he did this or not.

They said he was okay, but he wasn't. He was offside to start
with and made even more offside when his teammate joined the
ruck (when he should've retreated). It was an error by the TMO.
There's a reason why he's in front of the defensive line...

I was pretty confused at the time in the ground, not knowing the
Marler situation. Having looked at it online all the timings
look marginal, eg. Saffa player joins the ruck at the same time
Marler becomes unbound making the ball 'out'. In hindsight it
was great play and appreciation of the laws from Etzebeth.
