Why the heck is the ref allowing Sharks to go for the ball
before it's been lifted? Ref has been pretty good so far, but
that interpretation is so out of the norm that the last time
I've seen anything like it was when Steve Walsh allowed Wales to
tackle Danny before he'd even touched the ball.

The ball wasn't out. He has every right. Now possibly marler
wasn't bound properly, in which case the ref might be
technically correct, but he's missed their hooker in at the side
twice in their line. He's Gifting the game to them

I'll be glad to see the end of caterpillar rucks, but harsh to
decide to start refereeing them that way half way through the
season

It's something we've seen in recent weeks so it's a new focus.
As a way to ensure teams don't take the mick when setting up for
kicks, I applaud it. Reffing the laws is fine.
Just, you know, ref the offside law as well...

I agree but he could have held onto the ball instead of
appealing to the ref

For qualification purposes, that try was worth an extra 7
points, as we can now lose by 1-7 points and will still likely
qualify.

Yeah, Danny should have grabbed the ball to be safe, etzebeth
was offside. As always, just hope the referee it consistently
from now on

Binding: Grasping another player’s body firmly between the
shoulders and the hips with the whole arm in contact from hand
to shoulder.
Premiership referees do not enforce the "whole arm" part.
Mind you, they do not keep the scrum-half on side either. If
they did that, we could eradicate the caterpillar.
