Some History of the Loyalty Wall

While looking for something else entirely I found this

--- Quote ---
>
> When Copsey opened his inbox on the Monday following Quins'
relegation he was staggered to find 100 e-mails taking up season
tickets for League One with the bulk of them happy to pay full
price even though the visitors to the Stoop would be Plymouth,
Earth Titans, Otley and Doncaster rather than Leicester, Wasps
and Bath.
>
> The fans' gesture was generous. Quins were offering a discount
of up to £100 for their demotion.
>
> Copsey decided to test supporters' loyalty still further. He
arranged for a Loyalty Wall to be built at the back of the new
Lexus Stand and told people that their names would be enshrined
on the wall if they waived the reduction.
>
> Around 70 per cent agreed and the club ended with 5,158
confirmed season ticket sales for the current campaign, more
than the number who signed up for their relegation season.

I never heard a figure for how much we contributed, but that was
up to £500,000! A nice contribution to trying to save the jobs
of the backroom staff.

We'd better make sure the Loyalty Wall exists in the redesigned
Stoop! :)

It’s nice to be a small part of club history, and it was the
right thing to do. The people whose jobs were at risk were not
the ones who were responsible for the relegation.

My name's there too, not sure I'd do it for the lot in control
at the moment though.

We didn't do it to keep Evans/Copsey/Richards in a job. It was
the backroom staff getting made redundant.
