Yes, exactly what I was gonna say. Cadan finishes there every
time.
And Morris wasn't 'forced' inside.

Rubbish reffing and worse tmo 🙄 As others have said it
was given as try on pitch so it needed to be clear and obvious
to rule it out. I can't see that is was clear and obvious that
there wasn't an it should have stood.
As for Morris 🤷 he's far from a bad player, we signed
him from Sarries, allegedly as a 15 at the time but he's barely
played there from memory. I'm not sure post his various injuries
that he's quite the player he once was. In the grand scheme of
things you do need back ups and they're never going to be as
good as your first choice players. It is just unfortunate that
we have so many injuries at the moment.

Just on a slightly different subject.
I always thought that the rule about the ball having to actually
touch a blade of grass was a bit rubbish anyway.
I was a little surprised that they didn't look more closely at
Care's try. On the one replay, I thought that it looked as
though Care's own arm was actually under the ball.
I always thought it should be more like cricket - where, the
hand holding the ball is an extension of the ball. Therefore,
the wicket keeper can stump someone, by knocking the bails off
with his gloves.
In rugby terms, this would mean that a player's own hand/arm
couldn't hold the ball up.
I think that it is more critical with the new (in my opinion,
stupid rule), that being held up is no longer a 5m scrum.
In the old days, being held up wasn't a big issue as you got a
2nd chance from a 5m scrum.
Now, (in my opinion,) being held up is too big an advantage to
the defending team.

Funny you should mention cricket, given they're hyper aware of
the foreshortening effect of the camera introducing a lot of
uncertainty surrounding grassed catches.

TBH, this is why I am not a great fan of the TMO.
Nothing (at the moment) beats actually being able to see
something close-up with your own eyes.
I don't trust the long-lens images you get from cameras.
I like the idea that you get in the French D2 games where you
get an additional assistant ref behind the goal lines.
(Basically, it means you get 5 officials for a game - which, I
believe, is the same number that we have for Prem games.)
This has to be better than the very dark, inconclusive pictures
we saw on Sunday.
Also, it puts the authority back into the ref's hand and makes
the players start respecting his decision more. I don't like
seeing the players asking the ref to refer his decisions to the
TMO all the time.
I know that refs make mistakes. (So does everyone.) Just
deferring to a TMO doesn't necessarily stop mistakes from
happening.

On a related note it is so strange that we expect these
millimetre-perfect decisions (or decisions are made on such fine
margins) when things like persistant offsides in defence / at
the ruck or being in front of the kicker are regularly missed
and largely hand-waved away. Funny old game.

Unfortunately the TMO and referee got in a muddle.
She intervened and took it on herself to decide whether or not a
try had been scored and rightly concluded there was no evidence
of a grounding.
But there was no evidence either that it had not been grounded
or that the defender had stopped it. The camera angle was simply
inconclusive. The question was: “Is there any reason to overrule
my decision?”
She had no right to overturn the on field decision. Instead of
ruling out the try she should have said: “ I can’t give a
definitive decision. It is up to you.”
It does not matter now although it could have big implications
for who qualifies. But I hope that in future tries are not going
to be ruled out because there is no evidence of a grounding when
the referee has awarded a try.

Nowadays it's standard practice after a try has been awarded by
the ref on the pitch for the TMO to do a quick review while the
kicker is getting ready to convert it, even for the most clear
cut of cases (checking no-one's run a block or been in front of
the kicker on o cross-field kick, etc). You can hear them
usually say something like "All good" to the ref before the kick
is taken on the reflink.

I thought that that was a specific Premiership rugby protocol to
speed things up.
I didn't think that it applied to Euro matches. I think that in
Euro matches, the TMO only gets involved if the Ref asks.
