I appreciate the naffness of this response but it's somewhat
inevitable; it depends on his contract and insurance.
There is undoubtedly something they could negotiate but who
knows to what extent.
I'm pretty sure Geo Cronje, for instance, just agreed to bin his
contract even though he didn't have to but I've no idea how that
might have affected his insurance assuming he had some

I think that the issue is that the clubs still have to pay for
expenses.
E.g.
Travel - you can imaging that flying a whole team to Jersey
isn't cheap.
Medics - I think that Championship teams need to have
ambulances on standby
Refs - I think that there is a cost for these too
In the past seasons, Covid tests were very expensive. The tests
all had to be handled by private labs.
Also, even though the squads are amateur, the coaching staff,
etc, are professional.

I thought there was a standard contract that players use.
Although I have no ide if this is obligatory. I'm sure I had
also heard in the past that 6 months was the cut off. If you're
out of action for longer than that, my understanding was that
the club had an option to revoke the contract.

Personally I think Jersey should cough up for that and I thought
they did.
The rest doesn't amount to a whole lot though. And why are the
coaches professional. Great job if all you do is 2 evenings a
week. 😁

I find it odd (not disbelieving what anyone says) that any
Championship side is fully amateur as there are so many clubs
below who would fit the semi-pro model.
If they are fully amateur then the league is broken and won’t be
fixed until it is a competitive professional league and the
semi-pro/amateur teams feature in the lower leagues.

I’m not sure having all of Quins third-string and convalescents
is doing London Scottish any favours, they never seem to win. If
I were a Caldy fan I’d encourage them to have more Quins in the
side.

I think it’s massively detrimental to LS.
No consistency each week in the side, so it’s difficult for
players to get a feel of each other, and also if you were a LS
player knowing If we send them a player they will obliged to
probably start them..I can imagine that’s fairly demotivating

I know that the players get a standard match fee.
One player I spoke to said that if he plays in every game, then
he could make around £3000 for the season. I think that this is
to compensate people who need to take days off work to travel to
away games.
