longevity (tying in with medium term plans for the stadium),
non-matchday use, etc.

Depends on whether he has more than one type of grass...

Have to agree with FQ. As ugly as areas of the pitch were
yesterday, priorities needed elsewhere. Re artificial/hybrid I
don't think it's good for Knees in the long run but that will
change as players coming through the system will be more used to
them

Well first of all, if we're talking Lancastrian (and therefore
properly), "grass" only has one r

From what I read when Sarries put in their pitch, the initial
cost is high but maintenance is much lower. We reseed our pitch
every summer, that cannot be a cheap option. If it gives us an
advantage to go to a plastic pitch, then I'd reluctantly support
it.

I would hope that they ask the players what they prefer and then
go with their majority choice. I know a lot of players don’t
like them. My daughter doesn’t and neither do many of her
teammates.

Am I imagining it or is(/was) there a moratorium on any more
artificial pitches at the moment?

in to anchor the grass. They bring in a great big machine and
punch a million or so artificial 'blades of grass' into the
pitch and then grow normal grass around them. Desso is the main
brand name here. Twickenham & Wembley both have them. See here:

3G / 4G are marketing terms and there's no actual definition of
them. In a Spinal Tap style, 4G sounds better than 3G and I've
also seen boast of 5G as well. From a rugby perspective, the
key test is whether it's compliant with the relevant RFU / World
Rugby regs. There's a timelapse video of Rosslyn Park's
artificial pitch being laid, here:

Apologies Jedzi, I meant to give your post an uptick.
Combination of early morning, using a phone and poor light. And
a decrepit person using the phone.

Mark Evans used to say that the aim was to move to a Desso
Grassmaster hybrid pitch (which IIRC is what the Big Stoop has)
but that it was a significant expense and something that was
behind stadium improvements on the list.
