Foy makes some good points regarding the extensive mitigation
available and the decision as to what constitutes a relevant
match
On the other hand his opinion that it was no more than a yellow
card is completely at odds with his agreement that the panel
assessed the entry point correctly as mid-range 6 weeks due to
the head contact.

The comment on the Bristol game is one of those situations where
there just isn't a good fix.
If you don't count the Bristol game then Farrell is banned for
the Calcutta Cup. In that situation, I'm sure that England would
prefer that he gets some game time under his belt so while he's
in the training squad they release him back to Sarries for the
Bristol game. But then he's playing in the Bristol game, which
is the next game in the ban period, so he can't play in the
Bristol game. So then that means that he is free for the
Calcutta Cup. But if he's free for the Calcutta Cup then England
wouldn't have released him back to Sarries for the Bristol game
and if this means the Bristol game shouldn't count then you're
just back to the beginning again!

This has been an issue for a while - plenty of sides have been
left with loopholes to exploit regarding player selection and
bans.
The ban itself seems fair enough, though.

The full judgement is pretty clear that he has had two bans for
high shots: one in 2016 and one in 2020.
The tackle school is a fairly new initiative - launched July
2021.
