If true it’s another failure of management as well as sheer
stupidity from Marler.

Deserves punishment and in no way making light of what he said
and the offence caused but is it really worth the same sanction
as something they could potential end a career or a life? How
many offensive words equate to taking someone out in the air or
a spear tackle? That and the fact anyone who has played the
game has heard it all before. Does it make it more serious
because the other blokes mum is ill? Maybe if Joe knew that but
how do you prove it? I’d rather he lost a load of money as I’m
not sure he’s so fussed about missing games any more.

And yet he still copped a ban when it was simply Shilcocks
allegation, which was denied

I think the weeks mentioned are just the guide for everything
covered by the law, which could be racism etc. EG a player
called someone a racist term I doubt many would be calling for
the lesser period of suspension. I certainly think whilst what
Joe (apparently) said is in very very poor taste, it's not in
the same boat as racism etc. The only issue he has, is he
probably does not have a lot of room for mitigating
circumstances combined with his previous character. If it was
say Jack Walker up against it, the up to 6 weeks max would
probably apply, but with his rap sheet I think Joe has already
removed the lesser options. (Same as in say criminal law if a
Judge was previously lenient, but then the defendant is back
again having not really learnt the error of his ways).

Joe is a great player, a funny character and probably the best
loose head in England. Abusing a player, who's mother is in
hospital, is so low, he deserved a full punch to the nose, let
alone a ban.
If he gets banned, then it will open the door for Fin Smith. He
needs game time and this may offer perfect opportunity.

I doubt he knew the guys Mums in hospital, but never the less
it’s a bit low , but where do you draw the line on sledging,
does it all stop ?
