While its not ok to say, what could he actually be banned for??
Its not Racist, Sexist, etc. Pretty poor taste yes but how can
he be banned?
I can imagine there is a fair bit of unsavoury stuff that is
said each round, but can you ban someone for saying something
like that?? I would guess a few players would be copping bans
each week

I'm surprised that a front row player is so thin skinned that he
wants to start punching people after a playground taunt. What
happened to the old 'Sticks and Stones' stuff?
(Btw I am not condoning what Joe may or may not have said)

9.12 A player must not verbally abuse anyone. Verbal abuse
includes, but is not limited to, abuse based on: religion,
colour, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation.
Low-end: Mid-range: Top-end: Max:
6 weeks/matches 12 weeks/matches 18+ weeks/matches 52
weeks/matches
I suppose it will be down to the RFU once they have the facts,
if it gets that far

But if what he is alleged to have said is true, it doesnt really
fall into any of those categories?? Id be really surprised if
similar things are not said each week. How many times will
someone be called a pr**k, kn*b etc?? Its abuse and no one bats
an eyelid.

I think the wording “Verbal abuse includes, but is **not limited
to**” is the bit which will be open to interpretation if a
complaint is made.
He’s publicly apologised so there’s an admittance of guilt, and
could be enough to diffuse things..but I’m not really 100% how
it works in times of if an official complaint needs to be
reported, or if the RFU can just run with something regardless

That's why they put "but not limited to" in.

Well strictly speaking, abuse isn't allowed. Also I think it
kicks off far more often than you might think but just amounts
to some snarling and pushing.
Since no-one appeared to be able to help Dickson at the time I
suppose something will only happen if Heenan or Bristol make a
complaint.
