Harlequins name team to host Racing 92
Harlequins host Parisians Racing 92 at The Stoop this weekend
for a fourth encounter between the two sides, with Harlequins
currently boasting a 2-1 record against the French side since
2013.
Both teams will kick-off at The Stoop this Sunday on the hunt
for a first win of their respective Champions Cup seasons, with
Harlequins falling to a 39-31 defeat to South African side the
Cell C Sharks, while Racing come off the back of a record defeat
to Leinster, 10-42.
Academy graduates Fin Baxter and George Head earn their first
starts in the competition alongside Simon Kerrod in a new-look
front row, with Joe Marler and Jack Walker sidelined with
short-term injuries. Wilco Louw takes up a spot amongst the
Impact Players.
The backline remains unchanged as Quins look to kick-off their
first home Champions Cup game of the season with a victory.
Attack and Backs Coach Nick Evans said: “Last weekend in South
Africa we didn’t leave the Cell C Sharks with a win, but it was
such a rewarding and different experience for us. We did things
that the guys wouldn’t have experienced before. We spent some
time within a charity called LIV village and it was really
eye-opening for all of us.
“We had plenty of learnings to take away from the game itself
and we are certainly not taking away from the disappointment of
the result. The Heineken Champions Cup is a quality tournament
that we really want to perform well in.
“When Racing 92 come to town, you know you are in for a big
performance, and you have to put in a big performance. I think
there is massive excitement around that. This week has certainly
been a contrast. Last week in Durban it was 29 degrees, and we
flew back to London, it was minus two degrees and our training
fields were frozen!
“We know that we have quality players, a real good plan and play
the game we want to play, we can beat anyone. It is just doing
it consistently with those opportunities we have.”

Big test for Baxter and Head. A real chance for Fin in
particular to show he's ready to become the heir apparent to a
Quins #1 shirt that has been filled by some true club and
international legends.

That is quite a lot of faith in some very young front rowers.
Still, you have to step up eventually I suppose. Looking forward
to seeing it unfold on Sunday...

Baxter did very well last week when he came on against the
Sharks . The question will be as to how much Racing are going to
put into this competition. Looking forward to it as it’s always
more interesting when you play teams that you don’t play every
week.

That's a very strong Racing team. I think our pack will
struggle, but the backs are a good match. Hopefully I'm wrong
about the pack.
