Team v Bath - 2nd December
DIR By: SunburyQuin

I would like to see the following squad for the Bath game :
Marler
Walker
Louw
Herbst
Lamb
Kenningham
Evans
Dombrandt
Care
Allan
Bassett
Andre E
Marchant
Murley
David
Replacements : Head/Riley, Baxter, Kerrod, Hammond,
Jurevecius/Tualani, Gjaltema, Edwards, Northmore.
Pity I can't fit them in but it would be good to see Benson
and/or Cleaves getting game time.

I think that would be the best side to put out with what we
have.
With Taulani, as a bench option, he is miles above what White
can offer as an impact player. White is a steady eddy at the
best of it, where as Taulani has the potential to at least make
the oppo think about his carrying in my view.

Pretty spot on I'd say. The team pretty much selects itself in
13/14 starting positions atm with our current injury list.
I personally would pick Edwards ahead of Allan this week, as I
think we'll need to really go at a Bath side that are growing in
confidence and looking like a genuine force now that they've
folded in all of Worcester's best. I don't think the coaches
will drop Tommy to the bench though. Will we see Lawday back
among the subs this week? That would be nice.
I also wonder if we'll start to see Luke N given more chances
ahead of Joe as we go through the season, now that we know Luke
is our starting 13 from next season onwards...

Can't argue with that proposed line-up, except the possible
inclusion of Lawday in the squad if he's ready.

Harlequins' coaches have named the matchday 23 to travel to Bath
this Friday for Round 12 of Gallagher Premiership action this
season.
Alongside the rest of the Premiership, Harlequins is dedicating
this weekend's action to Restart, raising vital awareness and
funds to support players facing the unthinkable.
Continuity is king in selection this week for the men in the
Famous Quarters, with just one change to the starting XV that
claimed a gritty victory over Gloucester last Friday. Oscar
Beard steps into the thirteen jersey to start his first
Premiership game in the midfield, lining up alongside Bok Andre
Esterhuizen.
England centre Joe Marchant is rested this weekend, while fellow
midfielder Luke Northmore is ruled out due to a wrist injury
sustained during his appearance from the bench against
Gloucester last time out.
Marcus Smith also misses out on selection this week following
his involvement in England’s Autumn Nations Series campaign,
observing the mandatory stand-down period for England players.
Smith also awaits news on the extent of a lower limb injury he
sustained whilst on Test duty following scans earlier this week.
Previewing tomorrow’s clash in the West Country, Lineout and
Defence coach Jerry Flannery said: “We were pleased with how the
boys dug in against Gloucester last week. They showed resilience
against a good Gloucester team that are hard to beat.
“The league table is beginning to settle now and we’ve managed
to place ourselves in a reasonable position so far. But, Bath
are a very good team and they're cracking on well this season.
Anyone can beat anyone on their day in the league. It’s hard to
say many teams have cemented their position so we have to be on
it every week; although we did give ourselves some breathing
room last week.
“With new coaches and some changes in their playing roster, it
will take time for Bath to fully find their feet, but they are
certainly improved this season. I’ve watched a good few of their
games so far this year and you can see their identity is
starting to come through a little bit. They’ve got a strong maul
and put a lot of time into their set-piece. They’ve got a big
pack and some key momentum-giving players in the backline as
well.”

That's about as strong a side as we can put out right now - with
some serious pace in the back division. If we can get parity up
front (much easier with Dino and Alex back), it could be a good
game.
The back row battle is a real contrast of styles isn't it? A
pretty heavyweight one from Bath, with Quins emphasising pace
and guile.

Why are they waiting on Marcus' injury? One of our resident
"experts" has already decided he's out for the season
🤔🤔🤔
