Old and a bit injury prone. And probably past his best
And probably on big ££ if he turned down Racing
Like a Gustard era signing this one

The big variable is the wage he is coming in on and the % of cap
space he’ll take up and we’ll never know what it is. I like the
signing, the experience he’ll bring is huge and he has never won
anything at club level (I think…) so he’ll be itching to out
that right. A bit like Symons, he was injury prone and old
coming to us and we transformed him into the most underrated
lock in the league.
I think the coaching staff and Laurie deserve the benefit of the
doubt with their recruitment over the past few seasons and they
would have got the best deal for the club. Especially in terms
of how they are looking to building the squad for next year.
Louw/Marchant leaving will open up a decent wedge and I suspect
Care’s salary package will be decreasing with age too.

I could see Lewies not being here next season. Along with Louw
and Marchant that is a big saving. TRP reported a couple of
weeks ago that Care would like to stay another year, but there
was no offer as yet. We could have quite a bit of cash to play
with.
Am I right in thinking there is slight increase in the cap again
next season??

I think this 'all that experience from an older player will rub
off on the younger guys' stuff is massively overplayed.

I disagree, mainly because of how often you hear young players
talk about how much they learn from the more experienced guys.
Nick David mentioned it on commentary about Ross Chisholm, for
example.

That's all well and good but David is clearly ahead of Chis and
probably was the moment he joined. I mostly agree with Rodney -
tends to be over-played rather than not being a thing.

I think it can be overplayed, but it depends on the attitude of
the players involved. Nick David might be a superior player to
Ross Chisholm, but that doesn’t mean he can’t learn from him.
Some people are better at telling than doing (the majority of
the most successful coaches weren’t the best players) and for
all we know, Ross may be more better at spotting small things
that could benefit David.
I think issue is that too much emphasis is put on the idea is
that a great player will naturally be good at passing their
knowledge on.
I hope that Launchbury can do that for us though.
