England v Japan....why bother!!!
DIR By: Banstead Quin

Number eight Sam Simmonds and scrum-half Jack van Poortvliet
will start for a much-changed England against Japan at
Twickenham on Saturday.
South Africa-born David Ribbans makes his debut at lock,
replacing Northampton team-mate Alex Coles.
Manu Tuilagi drops to the bench, with Leicester's Guy Porter
coming in at outside centre.
Wing Jonny May will start in place of Joe Cokanasiga, only 22
days after dislocating an elbow on club duty.
England: Steward; Nowell, Porter, Farrell (capt), May; Smith,
Van Poortvliet; Genge, Cowan-Dickie, Sinckler, Ribbans, Hill,
Itoje, Curry, Simmonds.
Replacements: George, M Vunipola, Heyes, Coles, B Vunipola,
Youngs, Slade, Tuilagi.
Maybe Smith can sneak on a Japanese jersey as he'll fit into
their system so much easier!

I want Japan to tonk England, as it puts EJs position more under
scrutiny.
Itoje at 6 is a schockingly bad call. Coles dropped after a good
debut? LCD the penalty magnet, Nowell who has the speed and
flair of a milk float?
Porter at least will probably play himself out of any future
squads by starting if he makes the same impact he did in Oz.
Freeman should replace Jack all day long, but instead we drop
the only back who had any credible impact last week.
Probably make or break for Simmonds in how he does for his
England career, as I imagine come 6n Alex and Billy will
probably be the picks, and for the WC by then Mercer (who I
rate) will also be in contention.

As Simmonds is off to France, he has no future once Dommers is
back in. Mercer will need to start again almost from scratch.
Shall we have a sweep on how many tackles Porter misses? I'm
going with 7

Pretty baffled by that.
Several players who did poorly retained or retained in the wrong
position, and I really don't see what Porter offers. JVP in is a
positive, as is May if he is fit, and Japan may be the right
team for Simmonds to shine.
Easter is spot on when he says you can't trade Itoje for Lawes.
Itoje has the potentialt to be remembered as an all time great
lock; Lawes is a top class flanker who happens to be the right
shape to play lock as well - but they are different beasts. I'd
much rather see Chessum or Coles or even Jurevicius on the flank
if we want a flanker who's a third lineout option (or
Kenningham, who's been very strong in the lineout this year and
is a proper flanker)

What is the point in having Murley in camp unless he gets a run
out in this game?

He's Marcus' housemate I think so perhaps EJ under a bit of
emotional pressure from Marcus.

The simple answer is because it's his turn to be in a camp and
not get a game. See OHC, Lynagh, Odogwu etc.

Only Eddie would take a world class operator like Itoje and bung
him at 6. The Porter call is just odd to be honest.

I already have the feeling watching this game will be like
seeing a speedboat drag an anchor.
Porter has played TWO premiership games all season, scoring 1
try.
Marchant, 7 games 3 tries, with getting a lot more minutes in
but most importantly catching the eye with some good
performances.
Even Elliot Daly would have warranted more of a start over
Porter considering his season.

EJ is / has become so unchallenged he just is now running he own
Frankenstein like team . For his own entertainment, not for the
good of English Rugby and definitely not to provide
“entertainment “ to 80,000 paying guests plus how many viewing
on TV. He of course needs to win but he / RFU are responsible
for delivering a product to fee paying customers.
Not sure he gets that / cares. But his bosses aren’t reminding
him / keeping him to account for that.
Just my view 🥴🥴🥴🥴
