For me it's a very boring team; very unlikely we'd trial new
players in the 6 Nations and right before the World Cup isn't
enough time anyway - So not sure what we lose in trying the odd
player like Murley or Rapava-Ruskin in games like these;
especially against Argentina

That backline is rapid.....
We're just going for bosh, which is fine, but won't work against
the strongest teams.

Alex Coles is an odd selection given that Tizard is nowhere to
be seen (not that anything shocks us any more with Eddie) but it
is just so disheartening to see Mako on an England teamsheet
again. We'll get pasted in the scrum as soon as he comes on -
which is probably fine for this game but if he's going to the
RWC as our #2 LH, you can pretty much kiss goodbye to any
imaginable chance we have of bringing home that trophy. Not to
mention Maro out of position - which has been tried before and
didn't work.

Crap. Bland, and seemingly no flair. What do we learn from this
side ahead of building for the WC?
Itoje should be in the second row. We simply just need the best
players, in their best possible positions. Willis at 7 and Curry
at 6 would be a genuine insight into what could be a great
pairing.
Youngs isn't even the best 9 at his club, yet alone the best 9
in the country. To start ahead of the wealth of candidates not
even in the squad is shocking. I fully expect him to be slow,
ponderous and to kick it aimlessly, as he has done for probably
his last 30-40 caps.
The positive is this team might be so flat and one dimensional
that EJ will be forced to mix it up for the following games. We
can hope..

Maro at 6?
Mako as the "finisher" of the bench?
Youngs as the starting 9? He's not even the best 9 at Tiggers
let alone in England....

Very conservative selection.
Don’t see what else Jones can do at Lock given the bodies
available and his obsession with playing three of them at a
time. Coles is fine, but we all know Ewels is gonna play there
in the RWC. At least he’s trying something new there. 6-2 split
which hopefully means we see curry and Willis on together at
some point.
We already know everything that Ben Youngs can do, what are we
going to learn by playing him over Van Poortvliet?
Imagine playing as well as Murley has for as long as he has to
be dropped for a players who has played 10 games a season for
three years and scored fewer tries in that time than he has
*this season*. You’d be furious. Having a lot of big carriers in
the backs is clearly the game plan (Manu, Steward, Cokanasiga)
but leaves us vulnerable to true pace on the outside.
There’s probably something specific Jones is trying to
accomplish with this game but it’s very hard for fans to
understand.

Who in our back 3 will terrify the best defenses? None of them.
Whilst some of the more flair type players are injured (Ie
Arundell) You can't tell me EJ's wing selections deserve it. I
like Steward and feel confident enough seeing him on the
teamsheet, but when the two wingers have the pace and flair of a
milk float its worrying. Malins and Murley would have been a
much more creative pick, considering their combined tries (14 vs
5 respectively).

I've been becoming increasingly disenchanted with international
rugby for a while, and with EJ's England in particular. This
continued nonsense of selecting players out of position and
bizarre backline choices is really dull. Even if he wins the
RWC, I'll be glad when this era ends.
